I agree with Opty. That's got to be a rat?
Rats are really intelligent animals.
We had two for pets several years ago. I used to put washcloths in their cage so they could have a comfy little sleep area, and I could easily throw the cloths into the wash when needed. They also had a little wooden hide house in the cage. One time I came home from work early and the sun was shining through our window right into their hide house, and one of the rats had dragged a washcloth and draped it over their little door to block out the sun. They are amazing pets, really.
