When I get back to my desk, I'll split the tariffs off into a separate thread.
I initially thought Trump would walk that idea back in a day or two, but...yeah, no, guess not.

By the way? I'd like to note that all this shit happened in ONE WEEK.
This is ONE WEEK of the Trump administration -- and it isn't even everything batshit that happened. ONE. FUCKING. WEEK. I can't even imagine how long this thread would be if I'd started it last January. There's been so much goddamn batshit.
Why am I dumping all of this crap in one thread? I'm trying to make a point: that this is not freaking normal politics as usual. This isn't one thing; this is a critical shit-ton MASS of things. Too many people are glazing right over the totality of this situation, focusing on one event at a time and seeing how they can rationalize it not being all that bad. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS REALLY BAD.
It is my opinion that we are a thousand miles past "oh, both sides" or "well, it isn't technically illegal unless..." or "the mainstream media might have exaggerated this one thing so therefore it is all fake", and "oh, you are so biased against Trump!". Feel free to differ on that if you think you can. Feel free to ignore it. But FYI, as long as the crazy continues (i.e., as long as Trump remains in office), I am going to keep this thread going until Rob bans me or shuts the forum down.

I mean, is that $120 million being spent on lounge furniture or is Tillerson just saving it for a rainy day? ETA: And wait -- NONE of their analysts speak Russian?!

Oh, goody! The full text of the Stormy Daniels non-disclosure agreement is now available for our reading enjoyment! www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/stormy-daniels-sues-trump-says-hush-agreement-invalid-because-he-n854246Lawyerly note: The fact that someone didn't sign a contract does not necessarily mean it's not a contract. If you have an offer, acceptance of that offer, a meeting of the minds as to what the agreement was, and consideration was proffered and accepted, you have a contract. So Stormy's "Trump didn't sign the NDA, therefore no contract!" -- yeah, that's not necessarily right, at all. Don't try that shit at home, kids. I think one of two things is happening here (and I'll need to look over the NDA and Stormy's, Trump's and Cohen's statements and actions over carefully before I conclude which is accurate (and it may be both): 1) Stormy's attorney believes that the contract or some portion thereof were voidable because of Trump's and/or Cohen's actions, and/or 2) Stormy doesn't give a shit if the contract is voided and she has to disgorge the $130K and any damages, because she stands to gain a hell of a lot more by saying pffft. To the contract. I'm pretty sure the latter is true, but it's possible that the former is true as well.

Worst. Lawyer. Ever.
(I was going to put this in the Stormy Daniels-specific thread, but decided it went more to the "Christ, what a bunch of ridiculous incompetent, stupid grifting boneheads are involved with this administration" factor than to the "Trump-n-Stormy sittin' in a tree" factor. Way to disconnect your client from the payments, Mike! Well done.)
