The packages were meant to be found. Whether for fear or disruption, who knows.
This isn't master planning. This is ineptness on a scale that can only be deliberate.

And that still makes it terrorism, I think. However, I think comparing this to the Unabomber is basically pointless and is mostly about getting retweets. It's very much its own thing and should be treated as such.

The packages were meant to be found. Whether for fear or disruption, who knows. This isn't master planning. This is ineptness on a scale that can only be deliberate. I think the main goal is likely disruption. Hurting people might be a major plus, but either way, causing terror is pretty much assured. Sure, it could be a false flag, because anything is possible. But it's waayyyyy too early for to be jumping to that particular conclusion -- there's absolutely nothing to base it on. If it's a false flag, it's someone who was perfectly willing to injure not only the named recipients, but also staff in the offices of all of these people (not to mention postal carriers and staff). I'm thinking that person is more likely to be someone who hates Clinton, Soros, et al. than someone who supports them. But who knows. If they're a whacko, they're a whacko. But I'll absolutely agree that this isn't master planning. It's pure evil, but it's not master planning. This person will likely be caught, from what I've been reading, because of their ineptness. That's not very clever. I hope whoever it is is caught soon, and punished. Unfortunately, though, it's just not that hard to do something at this level if you are so minded. Bomb-making instructions have long been available on the internet. Addresses are easily found, too. Nothing clever about this at all. Just evil. I think it is ineptness, but I doubt it's deliberate. It may be careless, it may be "I don't care if I get caught", but leaving a bunch of bread crumbs that will likely make it easy for you to get caught is hardly "master planning." ETA: The fact is, a frightening number of people are both malevolent and not too clever, but ideologically obsessed enough to go to a lot of trouble. Certainly this took some trouble and certainly it took some malevolence, but it didn't take particular brains, skill, or knowledge.

I don't even know that I'd call it pure evil, insofar as I'm not certain--at this point--if there was actually any intent to kill anyone. The bombs may or may not be fully functional; that's not clear. So the bomb-maker could have done a shitty job, or done exactly what he or she wanted to do.
The chance of this being some sort of "false flag" operation seems pretty damn slim, imo, but it's still a chance. We won't know what's what for certain until the FBI finds out who did this, I think.

It would be helpful to find out if these "bombs" are actually functional explosives. Not sure why that's taking so long. There are military trained bomb experts saying these look more like hoax bombs than real bombs and listing their reasons why. It shouldn't take that long for the authorities to know if these are functional or not.

I'm not sure about any "false flag" stuff, but isn't it starting to look like either this person is completely inept, or it's a hoax? The perpetrator spelled people's names wrong, sent the one for Brennan (Brenan, LOL) to CNN instead of NBC, licked six stamps for each package, left fingerprints on tape, and the bombs themselves are not functional, from stuff I've seen discussed. Not one has gone off, right? That might tell you something right there. There's a lot of weird stuff about this. Like Amadan alluded to, it's a strange combination of master planning and incompetence. I would be reluctant to call this a hoax. It seems to be having the desired effect, even if the devices didn't go off.
Also, I've been watching former FBI agents talking about how they could catch this bomber. They mentioned things like fingerprints on tape and DNA from licking stamps. But I haven't heard that either fingerprints or DNA have been found on these specific packages. If the FBI has found evidence like that, have I missed mention of it?

The person might well want to be caught. But that wouldn't really be consistent with a false flag operation, would it? I mean, if you get caught, everyone will know it was a false flag. IMO, it's more consistent with a terrorist who thinks what they're doing is awesome and ultimately wants credit. Or they might just be dumb. Hey, they could be a really dumb person doing a false flag thing -- but in that case, they are particularly dumb. I agree with Rob -- it's way too early to tell. I think we'll know more soon. As to the functionality of the devices and the breadcrumbs, see, e.g.: www.cnn.com/2018/10/25/us/what-bombs-cnn-obama-clinton-soros-tell-us/index.html(To note -- someone is currently trying to target my family with an elaborate identity theft hoax involving my dead father and certified mail. They're pretending he left a large life insurance policy that I know he didn't leave. It's dumb, evil, and infuriating, and I've reported it to the FBI, whom I trust will find them. But they've gone to a lot of trouble to be that dumb and evil.)

It shouldn't take that long for the authorities to know if these are functional or not. I suspect the FBI knows full well if the bombs are functional. Consistent with my complaint about the pic being made public, this is something the general public doesn't actually need to know, right now. Ditto for whether or not the FBI has fingerprint evidence. Let the FBI do it's job.
