Sweet, but when I read the thread title, I swear I thought it said man holds strangled baby. Glad I was wrong.

Sweet, but when I read the thread title, I swear I thought it said man holds strangled baby. Glad I was wrong. The way things are going this week, I don't wonder you were reading it that way. But no. Anything I post under the heading "palate cleanser" is going to be a story that involves human kindness and that pretty much everyone will find sweet and heartwarming. Feel free to use the heading yourself, if you like, and post stories. I just feel like I, at least, need reminders that there are some genuinely good people out there amid all the horrible trolls, murderers, racists, etc.

I adore this idea! And yes, we need this now. I came across a person on Twitter who does something that I will share here. His name is Rodney Smith Jr. and he runs a charitable company called Raising Men Lawn Care Service. He basically mows (for free) the lawns (and shovels snow and rakes leaves)of disabled people, veterans, elderly, and single moms who cannot do it themselves. He has traveled across the country doing this, and when he does a lawn, he tries to get kids in the community involved so that they 1) learn a skill, and 2) continue helping that person out after he, Rodney, leaves. Here's a link to his company website: weareraisingmen.com/who-we-are-our-mission/And here's his Twitter: twitter.com/iamrodneysmithI think it's a great combination of helping your neighbor and beautifying your community, but most importantly, getting kids involved in service to others and feeling like they can contribute/have a stake in their own neighborhoods. It's just all around a pretty nice and inspiring idea.

Doesn't matter which thread it's in. We need the stories. I do, anyway. Probably makes sense to have them all in one thread, really. Thank you for sharing one.
