Along the lines of the NYT decision to switch a headline about Trump because of pressure from the Left, I give you twitter's arbitrary application of it's policies: dailycaller.com/2019/08/07/twitter-suspends-mitch-mcconnell-account-protest-video/
If you go to my cite in the other thread--from Saavedra's account--you'll see that the video that was the the basis of the thread is "no longer available."
The vid--for those unaware--was of protesters in front of McConnell's home. No one is claiming it was fake, or anything like that. There was plenty of profanity, true, but there's profanity all over twitter. And there were threats, true, but the accounts that were locked were not making any threats; the threats were from the protesters. I can't see how this clip of an actual protest is something that can seen as crossing some imaginary line, given what other vids remain on twitter.
In the end, twitter isn't accomplishing shit. All it's doing is giving people on the Right ammunition. Now, they can freely--and fairly--claim that they are being unfairly treated because of their politics.
Twitter is a private business, to be sure, and I think there's absolutely no question that the people running the show there lean Left (to say the least). But one would think that they would still be smart enough to not look like they're intentionally trying to manipulate the discourse on the platform. No?
Twitter forced three accounts, including that of Mitch McConnell’s campaign, to remove video of an activist calling for violence outside of the Senate majority leader’s Louisville, Kentucky, home Monday, saying the footage violates the company’s “violent threats policy.”
The social media company also temporarily locked the accounts for posting the video, which showed the activist saying that someone should “just stab” a voodoo doll of McConnell “in the heart"...
“This morning, Twitter locked our account for posting the video of real-world, violent threats made against Mitch McConnell,” Golden told the DCNF.
He noted that Twitter allowed the hash tag #MassacreMitch to trend over the weekend, “but locks our account for posting actual threats against us.”
“We appealed and Twitter stood by their decision, saying our account will remain locked until we delete the video,” he said.
