Katie Hill has declared that she is resigning from her office (though it's not clear when she is resigning). She didn't have many options. She was sleeping with at least one of her staffers. I think it likely that she was sleeping with more than one, that her resignation is a way of heading off more dirt in the pipeline, so to speak. And I, for one, don't buy her claims about her being in an "abusive" marriage. I think both she and her husband have been actively shitting on each other since he filed for divorce, though I also think her husband should probably be in some legal trouble for the photos of her that are out there, that he obviously released to media sources. That said, I also wonder if her situation might represent a moment when where maybe, just maybe, sexual proclivities might start to be separated from politics, from careers in general. Hill has openly stated she's bisexual and apparently was "throupling" with her husband and the female staffer for some period of time. I don't care (apart from it being a staffer), really. Why should anyone care? They're all adults. Hill should have had the sense to not sleep with an employee, but beyond that it's a "so what" moment for me. Thoughts?

The case is troubling on many levels.
1) I'm not keen on someone resigning on allegations only, without a hearing. 2) I do believe if Hill were a guy, and a republican who was having an affair with a staff member, many people who are defending Hill, would call for their head. 3) I do believe that many people calling for Hill's head now would demand a hearing if it were one of their own, someone who they liked the politics from. 4) Regardless of the truth, this seems like a case where Revenge Porn is being used to hurt someone. Never cool.
While having sex with a staff member is not good, if it wasn't abusive I'm not sure there should be anything actionable.

Odd that the left hasn't decried this as a #MeToo abuse of power.
Oh, wait. She's a woman and on the left. I keep forgetting the rules don't apply evenly.

CEO of McDonald's gets fired due to consensual relationship with employee. Company gets praised for such a brave, forward-thinking decision to nip harassment in the bud. He's a man, so obviously a predator, because how could a female employee ever enter into a consensual relationship with a male superior? It had to have been coercion. Female Democrat Congresswoman violates House ethics rules by having relationship with staffer (possibly multiple staffers). She gets cast as the victim by making the story about her supposedly "abusive" ex. Hardly any mention of her multiple ethics violations and abuses of power at all. What a time to be alive.
