Now, personally, I think it all depends on what the person is wearing. Red can make a girl look more attractive...if it's a sexy dress (independent of the color) and if I think the girl is sexy in the first place. But, I'm not gonna suddenly become attracted to a girl I don't find attractive, simply because she's wearing red. However, evolutionary psychologists (one of my favorite punching bags) have tried to claim that wearing red makes women more attractive. There were a few poorly designed, poorly controlled studies that made that claim and those shit studies made headlines (isn't it odd-but-not-really that these studies seem to usually only involve what makes women sexier and not men?). Anyway... Aww...it's okay, EvoPsych! You'll do real science one day. *pats EvoPsych on the head and gives him a cookie* Link to story: digest.bps.org.uk/2016/12/12/wardrobe-malfunction-three-failed-attempts-to-replicate-the-finding-that-red-increases-attractiveness/

Show off.
Red makes my skin look yellow.
I wonder if the same holds true for red sports cars? I personally find the color obnoxious on any car I otherwise admire. Too flashy. Totally unnecessary, stop trying so hard, that sort of thing.
Though it could just be that I look yellow standing next to one.

Actually, I do have a lot of red, but it's got nothing to do with the evopsych study and everything to do with it being one of my best colors. If you open my closet door, it is a sea of black with lurid splashes of blood red. Suits my character, as well.
I cannot wear pastel colors for shit. I instantly look wan and washed out. Weirdly enough, black and vivid jewel tones have the opposite effect.

Absolutely, some people look amazing in red. It's not "sexy" (to me) but it's very aesthetically pleasing. As I am in orange. Not kidding. I look good in orange. Shut up.

I have a friend who looks awesome in orange. We are the same size, but cannot borrow any of each other's clothes -- every color one of us looks good in, is ghastly on the other. But then, her coloring is completely different from mine.
It's skin tone, mostly.

Based on my personal experience, I think red is commonly used as a signaling system in relationships. Perhaps that may play into the perception that it increases attractiveness. IOW, it may be perceived as indicating receptiveness, which might in turn increase attraction.

That much leather is expensive.

Plus, if you've got the thigh-high boots, what else do you really need?

I can safely say I don't use red clothing to signal anything -- I just like red (I have red accents in my living room and kitchen, too), and it looks good with my skin and hair.
I haven't particularly noticed a red dress getting me more attention than an equally attractive black dress. But this I'll say -- red lipstick unquestionably gets more attention than a bare lip or a quieter color of lipstick, no matter what I'm wearing. Red listick seems to say "hussy" to a fair number of guys out there.
