I closed on my townhouse today!
I have been renting for four years, after the short-sale of the home I bought with my ex. (We refinanced at the top of the market, got divorced, bubble popped, and I ended up losing it.) I saved like crazy for four years and so had 20% to put down on this little townhouse just in time for my "waiting period" to expire for a traditional loan approval.
I spent all evening, after the closing, lovingly cleaning all the dust off of my PLANTATION SHUTTERS (*swoons*) with a damp cloth. I got to select my very own paint colors and new flooring for the bedrooms. (Carpet was ten years old and ick.) I also got to buy a few gorgeous pieces of new furniture.
It's just. Fucking. Perfect. Affordable payment, no PMI, a 15 year mortgage--I'll have it paid off by the time I'm sixty, heh.
Finally! I am a homeowner! (Well, joint owner with the bank, but still.)
I would buy a round for everyone if I could. Cheers to you crazy peeps!

Congratulations! That's fantastic.
To celebrate, we can burn something other than your new townhouse. Does your ex have a house?

The houses of exes make the most satisfying bonfires.

I don't know what Laguvawhosimawhat is, though. Some sort of puppeh vitamin drink, I'm guessing. Do they sell it at Pet Supermarket? ; )
