As long as we're all agreed that you're as likely as anyone else to secretly like Trump, it's all good. *Raises hand* I secretly like his money being put in my bank account. Does that make me a bad person?

Does that make me a bad person? No, not for that, since I secretly feel the same way. But you're still a bad person. I've always secretly thought so. And no matter what anyone else here may say, I know they secretly feel the same way. Also, your mother.

Now there's something we can all agree on.

Thereby proving their moronism, no? Sorry, I'm feeling hateful after peeling paint splatter off my tile. But to Don's point and your link, I'll concede that a lot of people voted for Trump for emotional reasons including being irritated at/sick of hearing about PC. Which, did I mention, is a really fucking stupid thing to base one's vote on. I don't think it was just "Hurr, hurr, anti-PC!" A lot of people (including myself) genuinely perceive the identity politics and suppression of speech from the PC crowd to be a threat that warrants active pushback. As I wrote in my "Trumpenreich" thread, I felt that temptation myself. I didn't vote for Trump, because I realized that making SJWs cry wasn't quite a good enough reason to vote for someone I really think would be a horrible President. But I was tempted. Given a candidate who, yeah, will probably be pretty bad, but he's so unpredictable, who knows? And another candidate who was, at best, uninspiring, and gave us plenty of reasons to have misgivings that she would be a bad president too, it is not surprising to me that a lot of people decided that making SJWs cry really was a good enough reason. Perhaps it's emotional and "moronic," but no more so than a fair number of feminists who admitted that Hillary being a (non-Republican) woman was enough to inspire them. Or the people who have been screaming that Trump is a sexist, homophobic rapist fascist who hates brown people until they're blue in the face, when we can clearly see that this is at best a distortion of the truth. When the opposition goes into full-on hysteria and browbeating guilt tactics to the point that truth is less important than feels, those who are skeptical of the "Trump will deport all Muslims and reinstitute slavery" narrative are going to be pushed that much closer to the candidate who's causing the hysterics, to make the hysterics STFU (or scream louder). In an ideal world, everyone would vote logically and intelligently, letting neither fear nor spite sway them, but we live in a world where actual people vote. Emotional reactions will always be stronger than reason, and it wasn't just the Trump voters who voted their emotions. ETA: Sorry, just realized I was looking at the first page of the thread and am responding to a much older post.

It occurs to me that people who relentlessly complain about excessive PC/SJWs are as emotional as the ones they're outraged over. I imagine they'd like to make all those crazy SJWs just STFU.
A pot/kettle sort of thing.
Excessive PC, while I don't agree with it, has never harmed me, so I guess I don't get all the excessive pushback.
There will always be stupid/irrational/extreme people. I try to ask myself: is this potentially harmful, or merely annoying as fuck? Gotta pick my battles.
ETA: This is not to say I never get offended. I do. But being offended is not being harmed. This is part of the disconnect with extreme SJWs, and I can't help but notice that it's very similar in nature to the reaction from their critics. Suppression of speech? Please. Let me know when someone throws you in jail, as opposed to disinviting you to their party.

I am now outraged by your use of pot/kettle instead of kettle/pot.

I might characterize something as "offensive," but only because I recognize that others can be offended. But I agree, being offended and being harmed are two different things.

You're a white, straight, cisgender, upper/upper middle class male. What's to get offended about? ; ) ETA: you even get to mansplain with impunity, as per Cass.
