I kept seeing this article about a 27-year-old teacher accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a student, and assumed the smiling picture that accompanied it was taken for the yearbook or something. But then I took a closer look and read the article. www.sacbee.com/news/nation-world/national/article139916408.html

The picture is her mugshot.

I've seen wedding pictures that looked less happy. I mean, she does realize she's in some serious trouble here, right?

I looked at some of the pics in the articles, and it looks like she's a naturally cheerful person. She may also be aware that female teachers in Texas who are caught with male students tend to end up with probation rather than jail time, which might reduce the sting a bit. And if she's got a good book deal in the works, well, she's got plenty to smile about, I suppose.

I'll have to assume the charges stem from the fact that she's his teacher, not his age, but I'm guessing she's assuming she's not in for a big punishment.
