Sounds like the beginning of FSOG... it's exactly like FSOG, right down to the ridiculous contract.

I am in the Black Hole of Doom on my case, but I'm stopping in with some free advice:
1) if the IRS sends you letters, you cannot simply ignore them. They will not feel snubbed and go away.
2) if you are involved in a court case, get a lawyer right away, not a week before the trial.
3) if you don't get a lawyer, keep in mind that when the judge's pretrial order states that you "must" file a pretrial memorandum and a list of witnesses you intend to call, and work out a stipulation of facts and exhibits with opposing counsel, and that you have to do so by a certain date, you actually have to do it.
4) If you ignore 1) - 3), when you desperately call a lawyer at the eleventh hour, you and she will be royally fucked.

That's some good advice from you and here's some good advice for you: back yo' shit up!
If my late brother, a computer geek El Supreme, had any words of wisdom for us, those four words were it. There literally is NO excuse not to have your shit backed up. You can back it up on the pc. You can back it up to an external device. You can back it up to the cloud. You can do any of those things, but you should be doing at least ONE of those things. www.howtogeek.com/220986/how-to-use-all-of-windows-10%E2%80%99s-backup-and-recovery-tools/The backups you make today can save you a lot of butt-hurt tomorrow. But you're a smart lady, so you already know this, right? Right?

Right. I backup automatically with carbonite. The thing is, I was afraid to reload my files because my screen was all wonky, my browser was missing my bookmarks, and I was worried malware somehow got on my computer. I wanted to figure out what happened before I reloaded my files. As best as I can determine, my computer logged me onto a temporary guest profile for no apparent reason, and then, for no apparent reason, let me log in as me and gave me all my files back. All I know is, it works now. Which is good, because I'll be working all weekend long with The World's Most Hapless Client. Back to the Black Hole of Doom. You people be nice* to poor robeiae now, or else I'll be spanking all of y'all when I get back. *OK. You don't actually have to be nice to him. Just don't, you know, make him ban you or shut down the site forever.

The login as a guest user profile is interesting because Windows 10 removed that option and now requires a command line prompt to access it. No problem with Carbonite. I've had it myself and I have no knock on the service. I opted to go with external hard drives because if I need to access my backups, I didn't want to wait around on Carbonite, but there's nothing wrong with having a secondary online plan as well as an external hard drive. Which reminds me...it's spring. Time to back that shit up! Enjoy your hapless client. Sounds like a real loser winner.

More free advice that I never would have thought of giving were it not for my hapless client:
If someone purports to be an attorney, but spells "subpoena" as "sapina," do not hire him.
If you allow such a person to handle your legal affairs, by the time you are forced to hire an attorney who knows the correct spelling of "subpoena," your situation is likely to be dire indeed.

I cannot, alas, give you the bizarre details. Suffice to say that though she was proceeding pro se in this particular case, a faux "attorney" is involved in her mess. ETA: I will say this much:. The case is reminding me of a Seinfeld episode, only much less plausible. It's somewhere between the episode where Jerry gets that guy in trouble with immigration and the one where George pretends to be marine biologist.

Unbridled enthusiasm? That's what led to Billy Mumphrey's downfall...

"Sapina" is so wrong. I'd be marginally less offended by "suhpeenuh."

My crazy case settled today. I'm wiped. I'll catch up on threads and jump back into real discussions tomorrow. I'm glad to see robeiae didn't shut down the site this past week. I trust that does not mean he was overthrown in a coup. Any bannings, flounces, or defenestrations I should know about? Did Angie torch anything important?
