Yeah, you're probably right.
ETA: and the hurry up for the next question, too. This is making me sad. I really wanted to Spicer to ... be cheeky, I guess.
But why no video? WTH with that?

Well, they're talking about in future having no press conferences at all, so forbidding video is likely just the beginning.
I really do see Spicer as a guy who really, really, really wants things to be normal, knows they aren't, and just hasn't an ounce of savoir faire to put a good face on things. If this were a president who wasn't constantly doing crazy crap, it would probably be easy to be cheeky about an isolated instance. But Trump does so many batshit things it's like playing whack-a-mole to keep track of them. Imagine 'splaining them.
I'm gonna go make up some "Free Spicey!" t-shirts.

"The President and a small group of people know exactly what he meant."
Jesus f'ing Christ, this is absurd.
This is something that should not have been a big deal, at all. Just a fun, harmless moment, coming from something that was transparently a mistake (a minor mistake, not a serious one in any way, shape, or form.) And then the tweet got taken down, showing again that it was obviously a mistake, which everyone knew anyway.
But no.
It wasn't a mistake.
Because why? Trump is incapable of making an embarrassing mistake? Because that's what Spicer's response sounds like to me. He deserved to get laughed at for such an absurdity.
Jeez.

David Frum of the Atlantic tweeted this in response to someone who asked why Spicer didn't just say "typo" and move on:
Even if he didn't pass out or have a mini stroke or whatever-- even if he just accidentally pressed send and went to bed -- it does show how incredibly careless and offhand he is with his tweets. He's the freaking president. He shouldn't be just randomly tweeting shit to the world.
Notice, by the way, that when he came back in the morning, he never finished whatever his thought was. He just deleted it. the president shouldn't be tweeting shit out that isn't important enough to finish. Seriously. He's the fucking President.

Why is this such a talking point? Perhaps because, of everything Trump does on a daily basis, this is the closest we get to non-stomach-churning.
Remember when the United States Government didn't come off as a Fellini production of an Orwell script?

Covfefe is the only reason I have not yet doused myself in gasoline and lit a match.

Covfefe is the only reason I have not plunged a dagger into my belly and disemboweled myself?

My printer broke yesterday. I am convinced it was in despair and just couldn't go on.
As for me, I shall muddle on, fighting the near-constant urge to swallow drano or hurl myself through a plate-glass window to the pavement forty stories down. I, at least, have covfefe.
