Excuse me while I go have a whiny liberal tantrum for a minute. Link.

Please feel free to have it right here in the forum, Angie. That's what it's all about.
I'm also not happy about this, just so you know. But I am not surprised. I thought there was a chance he might pick Kris Kobach, but I didn't expect he'd pick someone that would please me.

There's also this, which paints a much more encouraging picture than I thought when I first heard the news.

That is, of course, not to say I'm happy about it - just that he's at least experienced and has a track record of working across the aisle. Nobody Trump was going to pick was going to make me exactly happy.

Nobody Trump was going to pick was going to make me exactly happy. Ditto here. It was a question of how much I'd dislike his choice. Heh. Just met up with a former law school classmate. We think the Trump team might have floated the Kris Kobach as AG rumor to make Sessions look not so bad.

Backers of legal pot horrified by Trump’s selection of SessionsI'm making an effort to avoid profanity on this board, so I'll refrain from saying anything. Polite language could not possibly express my level of disgust. Apparently, not only am I racist, misogynist, and homophobic due to my whiteness and maleness, I'm also not a "good person" and belong in prison. And people wonder why I don't support either party...

There's plenty of room in this handbasket.

And the road to hell is smooth and paved.
ETA:
You know, I actually have never smoked pot. But plenty of my friends did (and some still do) and for the life of me I really do not see the harm, any more than with scotch. I just prefer scotch.

My stoner friends have generally been much more pleasant to deal with than my drunk friends. I fail to see why alcohol is hunky dory but pot is DA DEBIL'S WEED!!11!

I'd rather be in a room full of stoners than a room full of drunks, any day of the week and ten times on Saturday night.

For sure. I've never been in a room full of stoners and worried that someone was going to beat the shit out of someone else. Unless, of course, the supply of munchies ran out.

Not only do I have absolutely no taste for it, but I've seen it destroy countless lives and relationships. To each his own, however; I'd never support any form of prohibition. By "absolutely no taste" I mean precisely that. I can manage to choke down a mudslide to be sociable, but the rest of it all tastes like paint thinner to me. And I should know what paint thinner tastes like, I do a lot of woodworking.

No question -- some people should never drink.
Me, I have no interest in getting drunk and sloppy, and even if I have a sip too many, I tend to be, if anything, more mellow. But I have some alcoholism in my family, and yes, absolutely -- some folks should stay away.
I love me some good scotch, good wine, and good beer, though.

“The civil libertarians among us would rather defend the constitution than protect our nation’s security.” - Jeff Sessions 2007
Duh. Apparently being a civil libertarian also makes you not a "good people."
Based on Trump's selections so far, I'm ready to call the election. The State won, The People lost.
