Like the Hamilton ambush directed towards Mike Pence, I suspect this sort of thing will be happening more after this election than ever before. Perhaps a thread could be handy to discuss. Here's one: First Lady Fashion Designer Refuses to Dress First Lady-Elect www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2016/11/18/fashion-designer-refuses-to-dress-melania-trump.htmlMy childish response: Part of me wants Melania to alter this designer's fashions in an awkward way and wear them in a high profile event.

Did Melania ask for Theallet's services (I'll bet that she didn't)? If not, it's not much of a protest. More like a pathetic attempt to be noticed. Which I guess worked...

I just want people to make sense. To maybe not be completely moronic knee-jerk unthinking idiots who react to react without any thought about whether what they're doing makes any sense or even maybe harms whatever cause they think they're trying to promote. That's all.
Is that too much to ask?

We elect these people and expect others to dress them? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

It's a weird thing, don't even try to understand. Generally the one who makes the dresses expects to make money from other customers who want to mimic "celebrities."

We elect these people and expect others to dress them? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? To be fair, I have suspected for a while that Melania is made entirely of plastic and has a pull-string in her back. It would explain a lot. She might need others to dress her. Yep, that was a totally cheap potshot of a joke. I admit it. So I'll say something nice. She's very attractive, she always looks nice, and to be fair, I haven't seen her much except in photos and that one speech (which didn't do much to disprove my joke). There may well be more to her than I've seen.

Apparently somebody failed basic economics. I can't find the image now, but the one I saw said something like: "Go to Starbucks, order and tell them your name is Trump. Then the barista will have to shout out his name, and all the liberals will start crying. Their tears are delicious. I tried it this morning and LMAO." Yeah, increase Starbuck's business so you can make fun of people who go to Starbucks. That's economic brilliance right there. Of course, these are people who think Trump is going to build a wall and get Mexico to pay for it, so maybe expecting them to understand the nuances of boycotting is asking a lot. I just have to wonder if it wasn't somebody in Starbuck's PR department who made that meme. Now that would be brilliant marketing.

The idea that Republicans want to be your daddy, Democrats want to be your mommy, and libertarians expect you to be an adult is getting a lot of reinforcement from both sides of the aisle these days. The scoldings coming from the left, and the macho attitude coming from the right, remind me of growing up in the 60s. Have we really regressed 5 decades in a matter of weeks? That said, here's the latest scolding from Occupy Democrats. She looks familiar but it's early. Anybody? This is being posted on Facebook, right alongside the "Tell Starbucks your name is Trump and make liberals cry" crap... and liberals are as proud of posting this as conservatives are of the Trump Cup fiasco. Neither one is going to heal the divide or convince those on the fence to join your team. I wanna send both sides to their rooms without dinner.

Now read this one, too: www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/article115414438.htmlI know this guy. I mean, I don't know him personally but I used to see him a lot. He's a major league jerk. Look at his responses: a) my bad, I was having a bad day b) you know, I could sue for discrimination c) I suffer from mental illness He hits every note, trying to defend himself. Give him a little more space and he'll be claiming he was abused as a child. So here's a True Story that may or may not involve him: I was in a Starbucks some years ago in a back area where I always sat to study, usually with a couple of med students and an engineering phd candidate (we had a really good set up going). One morning, it was just me and an older gentleman whom I know and was also a regular, who was just reading the paper. So This Guy comes in through the door right by our little nook (it was kind of a back door to the Starbucks) and is talking on a cell phone. Actually he was close to screaming on the cell phone. And he was basically standing almost on top of where we were sitting, with a nice empty covered patio not five feet away, through the door he just used. I ignored him because I had headphones on, but my friend was getting steadily more irritated as the guy continued to scream at whomever he was talking to on his cell phone. Finally, when the guy stopped talking, my friend stood up and said--rather loudly--something to the effect of "you're a really rude jerk, acting like that!" The guy went to a tirade about his "rights" threatened to call the police and to tell the manager, and actually starting going up to other people, saying things like "did you hear what he said!" Anyway...

That said, here's the latest scolding from Occupy Democrats. She looks familiar but it's early. Anybody? I don't know who she is, but that scolding is just lame. "You voted for the same candidate as the KKK," over and over again. So did every Dem (and most Repubs, as well) in West Virginia in major elections going back to 1959, because they all voted for Robert Byrd. Doesn't mean that they were all racists. Doesn't even mean that Byrd was a racist. If that video represents how intelligent people on the left think, we're in a lot of trouble. We're in a lot of trouble.

I know intelligent, good people all along (or at least most of the way along) the political spectrum. But clearly, there are first-class morons and assholes sprinkled around pretty heavily, too. Sad.
