My thoughts are
(1) Health insurance as a for-profit industry is not ever going to be successful, from a humanitarian standpoint.
(2) Trump is cutting off the subsidies to try to force Congress to work together, to come up with some sort of "solution" to the problems with the ACA.
(3) This would be a great idea for an episode of The Apprentice. I doubt it's going to have its intended effect in real life.
(4) I'd be happy to be wrong.

This is a shitty, irresponsible attempt to kill the ACA without having anything to replace it. It's abruptness makes it even worse. It will cause chaos in the insurance markets and cause premiums to spiral. People who can't afford rate increases but depend on their insurance will suffer anxiety at best, and at worst bankruptcy and/or death.
For serious, you don't have to like the ACA to see why doing this out of the blue is a really fucking bad idea.
I can only hope Congress will step up its efforts for a bipartisan fix and that Mueller will step up for an Oval Office fix.

I tend to agree with Christine on this one. I'm not a fan of the government subsidizing their pet industries or corporations.
Trump ran on Obama care repeal He attempted to do it by traditional means, which failed twice. So I think there is no surprise here that he is employing different tactics to achieve his stated goals.
I personally hope he succeeds in bringing down this health insurance scheme known as Obama care, but only if it gets replaced with something like medicare for all type of system.

It won't, because that's not what the GOP wants. What the GOP wants is that rich people pay for health care, health care providers get paid lots of money, and poor people get no health care.

I believe you're correct. If only the poor would pay the campaign bills for their winning champion, all would be right as rain.
