Seth Abramson sums up my feelings on Carter Page:

It reminds me just a smidge of this, which I'm sure you will enjoy, Cass.

O. M. G. I giggled like an idiot all the way through this article on Carter Page. amp.thedailybeast.com/the-strange-pleasure-of-seeing-carter-page-set-himself-on-fireBy the way, do we have general agreement here that Carter Page is a fool? I'm thinking that's the kind of thing maybe all of us, regardless of party and regardless of whom we supported for president, might be able to bond on. If ever a man desperately needed a lawyer, it's Page. But alas, he's too damn oblivious to realize it. That transcript. Yowza. ETA: Btw, Angie -- I've done some depositions that got almost as stupid as the one at your link. Not quite, but almost.

That's a hilarious read. Thank you, thank you... Rick Wilson (the author of that beauty) is my favorite NeverTrump pundit. I follow him on Twitter and he is freaking hilarious. Also a wonderful writer and terribly intelligent even when I don't agree with him. Of course, since he deeply despises Trump, Bannon, Miller, etc., I agree with him a lot these days. Also, he regularly posts pictures of his cute dogs and cat. What's not to love?

He was also great when he played guitar for the B-52's.

He had me at "reeking of late-stage virginity." I had to restrain myself from proposing.

So, as I'm sure everyone knows, there is an ongoing effort to make Mueller look bad, as his investigation continues. And that;s a problem, imo. He should be left alone to finish the job. That said, this is a problem, too: www.cbsnews.com/news/peter-strzok-lisa-page-texts-trump-idiot/Not the "idiot" part, but the back and forth between Strzok and Page that included this bit: That obviously--imo--indicates that they knew they were doing something wrong. And remember, Strzok was the guy who was supposed to be investigating Clinton's e-mail server. Yet, I think the above indicates that he was in the tank for Clinton all along and should lead to a new investigation in that regard. So yeah, some of this stuff is pure mud-slinging by Trump and company. And yet, there's been some funny business in the bureau and I have a hunch that it's all going to lead back to Comey.

Well. As we used to say in sixth grade, P.U. That just stinks.
Imagine yourself being a special investigator, or an FBI lawyer, and conducting this investigation. An investigation of communications servers, FFS.
And then imagine yourself communicating that sort of message.
Stupidity, hubris, or both?
eta: Not to mention bias and compromising the entire operation.

You reminded me of this 'FBI is Trumpland' article from what seems like ages ago: Was Comey pro-Hillary at the head of a Trump-aligned FBI? If so, were these two in the minority? (Yes, I know, it's a Guardian article, so it's surely left-leaning.) And what of Trump's subsequent comments regarding Putin's word vs. American intelligence agencies? If Comey was really so pro-Hillary, why did he resurrect the email issue a week before the election? Is he that excruciatingly, paradoxically honorable, or does he just have apocalyptically poor timing? Wasn't there a time recently when things could be made sense of?

I don't think this is all going to lead back to Comey because he was just so pro-Hillary. I think this is going to all lead back to Comey because he sucked at his job. Anyway, some more: nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/12/fbi-agents-sending-anti-trump-texts-is-not-a-scandal.htmlThe NY Mag piece fairly notes we're lacking context here, but tries to paint the above in a potentially-not-so-terrible light. But in the worst possible light, the above could be about an assassination attempt. I'm pretty sure that's not the case, but this stuff shouldn't be sloughed off. It indicates that high level people in the Bureau not only had it in for Trump, but were actively planning to work against him.
