This was the prosecutor when Grosskreutz answered that question: So far all the prosecution witnesses have done a bang up job of proving the defense self-defense claim. I wouldn't be surprised to see the defense move for and be granted a directed verdict on the murder charges.

The entire article is summed up as "Hey, don't worry about getting shellacked anywhere there was a modicum of an independent vote. We won all the deep blue areas!"
Critical thinking is truly a lost art.

... rather than a rebuke of progressives across many levels of government pushing a toxic, deranged, and (ironically) racist agenda that the overwhelming majority of the country is against. I think one of the best thing that could happen for the Democrat Party would be the Progressive wing spins off into its own party and stop falling under the general Democrat banner. Then when they get crushed in elections, gaining maybe 4% of the vote, they would realize just how unpopular the majority of progressive proposals are to the general population. There's a reason Sanders fell on his face during the primary and a reason there was mass panic when it seemed he might secure the nomination.

As we discussed earlier here, a lot of this "drama" is the Democrats fault. They got into power with a razor thin majority against a wildly unpopular and polarizing President. They somehow misconstrued that as a whole sale mandate from the public and went bold with their agenda. This naturally caused opposition from the more moderate factions of the party who are desperately trying to avoid being swept away in a potential mid-term red wave.
Sinema was NEVER going to be a progressives dream.

Matthew McConaughey stands a much better chance of beating Abbott. Beto doesn't even qualify as a has-been politician.

This is breathtakingly stupid piece by Tom Nichols: www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/09/mark-milley-barely-stayed-inside-lines/620102/The whole piece proceeds from the duel idiotic assumptions that Trump might really have gone to war with China and that China's leadership is made up of a bunch of peace-loving happy-go-lucky world citizens. China may not be North Korea but the fact that the government loses it shit because John Cena refereed to Taiwan as a country and the fact that the government still plays stupid games like drone-snatching says something, imo. Or, ya know, the fact the government is engaged in an active genocide. But other than that, totally peace loving, happy-go-lucky world citizens.

I agree, I'm not feeling a treason charge. I think the unanimous feeling is the man should at least resign (he should be fired, but I don't think Biden will do that).

On #2: This is kind of tricky for me. If the US did intend to attack China, then wouldn't that - by definition - make China an "enemy"? In that case, giving warning of an incoming attack would be giving aid to an enemy, one of the definitions of treason. The question that could be argued, in my opinion, is this: Is a promise to commit future treason actually treason?

I'm a bit surprised this hasn't been brought up yet. I think its ripe for discussion. Just a quick summary: Apparently in the waning days of Trump's Presidency, Joint Chief of Staff General Milley became concerned that China might pre-emptively strike the US because of rising tensions in the South China Sea over military exercises, Trump's increased belligerent rhetoric toward China regarding COVID and other things, and the apparent erosion of government stability in the US post-election. His reasoning was China was becoming increasingly concerned that the US would launch some sort of pre-emptive attack. To remedy this situation, General Milley reached out to his Chinese counterpart twice, once in October and once again in January to assure the Chinese the US has no intention to attack China and the US government was stable. There are also reports General Miley gave an assurance that he would "let China know" if the US intended to strike China, but I haven't been able to substantiate these claims. Here are a couple of articles for reference: www.cnbc.com/2021/09/15/milley-held-secret-calls-with-china-others-as-trump-pushed-election-lies.htmlwww.npr.org/2021/09/15/1037454733/milley-defends-call-to-chinese-general-about-trumpRepublicans, of course, have their hair on fire over this with calls of treason echoing loudly. My opinion on the matter is, with the information available that can be verified, that General Milley walked a damn fine line, but didn't quite cross it. His reported review of nuclear launch protocols is absolutely within his rights and authority, and Trump was acting rather erratically in the closing days of his Presidency. Far more concerning are the calls to China. If what has been reported is true, that General Milley simply gave reassurances the US has no intentions to attack and the US government was stable, I can live with that. I think the guy should resign, because that is a form of shadow diplomacy in my view (very much akin to what Flynn got hammered for), but I'm not convinced it rises to the level of treason. However, if General Milley did go further, and make assurances that he would "let China know" if the US intentions changed and an attack was planned, I see no way around that being treason. At the very least there should be public hearings in Congress over this matter, but I doubt we'll see that because orange man bad.

And isn't a recall the ultimate expression of democracy? I can't see how a legal recall would add to the dangerously anti-democratic drift in this country.
