Anti-semitism is an old form of racism that has resulted in pogroms over centuries.
Even when Jewish populations are culturally and socially merged with society generally, as was the case in Germany pre-1920, it seems it is possible to stir it up in times of economic stress,
and Jews become a useful scapegoat, taking the heat off the system and its beneficiaries.
Zionism bought in to the ethos that Jewish people could not live in mixed communities, and has since been a source of confusion, sometimes answering criticism with anti semitism, and sometimes being used as an excuse for anti-semitism.
Interesting photograph here, of a Muslim woman in Bosnia who was shielding her Jewish neighbour's star of David from view with her veil, as they walked down the street in Sarajevo in 1941.
In Denmark, the population from top to bottom refused to go along with Nazi persecution of Jews in the WW2 occupation and most survived.
How can we prevent the destructive and irrational hysteria of anti-semitism from taking hold, in the increasingly dangerous political times in which we live ?
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
