I feel the same way. If Trump had different politics, I might listen to him and think, "Yeah, he's got a point." But he's such an unsavory person, that I don't see how I could bring myself to support him, regardless. I chuckle to myself that, over here, the word 'savoury' is in common use to classify food that, I guess, involves herbs and spices and salt, as opposed to sugar. Hence, one category of 'unsavory' would be 'sweet'. From now on, I will think to myself that Donald Trump is a sweet guy. He's downright saccharine.

Somebody convince me Trump even has morals and values. Given the way he's treated his past wives, I'm not at all convinced he has morals. Given his brag about shooting someone and not losing votes, I'm not at all convinced he has morals.
As for his values, they seem to be about the same as for all politicians. Donations uber alles, with votes a very close second.

Greetings to one and all.
One thing is for sure. Trump will never be recognized as a great orator. He now seems incapable of delivering any speech without clapping. He reminds me of a performing seal. George Bush had a shoe thrown at him once. With Trump, I'm half expecting a fish to come flying in. 😀

It was interesting to see Mrs Trump vote with her ass when her hubby mentioned family values. All around the faithful were standing clapping. Her face was stoney and her bum was glued to her chair. A gesture of defiance and hatred me thinks.

Also... great thread title I need new glasses. I keep reading it as "State of the Unicorn." Well, I guess since they're both fictional creatures that supposedly poop rainbows, it's not that bad a mistake.

Well, I guess since they're both fictional creatures that supposedly poop rainbows, it's not that bad a mistake. "Uniom" for "union" is my favorite typo ever and a wonderful metaphor for what's actually happening in the nation. Christ. Typos in casual, unimportant posts, friendly emails, social media and so forth -- meh, they happen. Poke some fun and move on. But on a SOTU invitation? Just saying -- I write most of my posts here on the fly, and they are not marvels of perfection (I often correct typos later, esp. if the original was typed on my phone). But important stuff? Letters to clients, the court, etc.? My dad's obituary? Poems/manuscripts I submit? My resume? They matter, so I proof read them carefully. It just says worlds that no one in that clown-car noticed such an obvious typo.

His values and his morals - such as they are - are almost completely opposite to mine. Politics don't even come into it. I feel the same way. If Trump had different politics, I might listen to him and think, "Yeah, he's got a point." But he's such an unsavory person, that I don't see how I could bring myself to support him, regardless. "Unsavory"...that's about as good a way to describe Trump as I've heard. Of course, there's always "scumbag".
