I honestly don't understand how the mom didn't notice there was something off about that t-shirt.
But I shall add this to my list of reasons not to wear anything with a corporate slogan (or any writing) on it.

Her explanation is reasonable, I think. She got some hand-me-downs from a friend and didn't really take a good loom at them, probably just folded up the shirts that looked like they'd fit her kid and stuck him in a drawer. He pulled one out and in the hustle and bustle of getting ready for school, she saw what she assumed was a McDonald's logo. I'm sure she's completely mortified now.

LOL. I guess some are detail-oriented and some aren't. My brother would likely do the same thing. He also doesn't notice when colors clash or something doesn't fit right. He'd probably never notice the logo was off.
Me, at a glance on the internet, without reading an article, I saw that photo and immediately spotted the obscene image. It doesn't look like the McDonald's logo at all. But then I notice loose threads, when one button is a tad crooked, etc.
ETA:
Poor kid!

Ya know, given McDonald's history of totally sad attempts at trying to be hip that wind up in disasters of cluelessness*, I wouldn't really be surprised if that had been an actual McD's shirt. *For anyone who might not remember or might not have ever heard, over a decade ago, McD's - in a desperate attempt to connect to America's youth by adopting some of the hep cats groovy slang - unintentionally advertised that they wanted to f-ck one of their own cheeseburgers right between its two all-beef patties. awfuladvertisements.com/pop-culture/throwback-thursday-time-mcdonalds-said-theyd-bang-cheeseburger.html
