I think we should go back to giving out cheese and beans instead of food stamps, too. Why should people have choice in their diet, but not in where they send their kids to school?
Markets deliver food better than government does, with lower prices and far more variety. They'll do the same with education. Today, only the rich get to take advantage of that option.
I'm a firm believer in "education stamps" instead of a coercive educational monopoly.

Granted, this is from the biggest public education association, but it makes some good points about the efficacy of the voucher program DeVos oversaw in Michigan. It was...less than stellar. Time's article from 2011 presents a fair, balanced view, I think. And it's still not a glowing endorsement. I'm definitely not going to say our education system is perfect. But I strongly believe that improving the current system and giving our poorest schools better resources is a better choice than a voucher program.
