Hello! And welcome to the first episode of the internet's hottest new quiz show, "Are You Sure About That?"
And, for our first episode, the question is...
Who originally said, "As you think, so shall you become?"

Another variant is, "As you think, so shall you be," so I'll also accept the original source of this quote too.

Without googling, there's something pretty much to that effect in the Bible -- Proverbs, I think, though I could have that wrong. But if it's exact words, in English, specific known person, ya got me. Confucius? Yoda? That karate teacher Mr. Whozit in Karate Kid?

Announcer: Our judges have indicated that there's no actual primary source (such as a book authored by the person, an interview, or a video where they say it) listed at the link you've provided that identifies the source of the quote. Please find a primary source or information that identifies one. So, according to the rules, we must ask again... Announcer and audience together:ARE....YOU....SURE....ABOUT....THAT? Announcer: I'm sorry, though that could possibly be the inspiration for the quote, it is not actually the exact quote. But, our "Official Opty Rules TM" allow for multiple attempts so, please try again!

Huh. I can't find anything so far with Bruce directly saying it. Just a ton of things asserting he did.
There's a whole blog article refuting the suggestion that it originated with Buddha.
Betcha Proverbs inspired whoever did say it. I should totes win. I should totes win anyway, even if they weren't inspired by Proverbs, just for being an atheist and pulling that out so handily.
