I'm sorry I implied you weren't interested. I meant, crate training the pup at your house, as opposed to letting her be free (that would be my M.O. LET HER BE FREE) Much respect to you for caring. I think it's rare for people to care on this level. Crying puppy, cute/sad, but meh, she's just getting used to be alone in her crate, she'll get over it. Kudos for seriously caring and being willing to help.

I love puppies lots. Because, yanno, puppies. It gets to me even more now that I've met the puppy. He really is such a dear little wriggly thing.
Bottom line is that the owner isn't going to let me help unless I'm interested in helping crate train puppy, so I'm going to try to convince her to let me. I could never, ever sit there at my desk all day with puppy in the cage the whole time. But I could work on having him stay there for intervals, provided I can also let him out for most of the time. I just need to convince her that this could HELP the crate training rather than set it back.
(There's something mildly crazy about the fact I have to basically beg someone "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME HELP TAKE CARE OF AND TRAIN YOUR DOG FOR FREE! OH, PLEASE!)

You can add emojis, but I admit it's kind of a pain. I added a couple when we first started up, just because I can't live without this one:  I've added these, too, if you want to try to copy and add them to your personal emojis:   Somewhere up at the "help" button, there are instructions on how. I recall I had some trouble figuring it out, but got there eventually. Life just wasn't worth living without trembly lip guy. |

puppy update: Owner gave up on the crate. Puppy roams free. And, at least when I've been around, puppy has stopped crying.  Apparently it was the crate more than separation anxiety. She never did take me up on the puppy-sitting, but I think I helped puppy anyway by making the owner aware of how miserable pup was. |
