Acosta will win. Easily. Some might dislike Acosta's style of reporting, but it is not grounds for revoking his press pass. Frankly, I think it's time more reporters challenged Trump's and Sanders' constant stream of lies.

Relatedly, has anyone called SHS out about using that doctored video and outright lying that Acosta accosted the intern? Has there been a press conference since then? I'll be deeply disappointed if the media lets this go.

Has anybody NOT called her out? To her face? Maybe I've just missed it. I mean, I've seen loads of people talking about it, but not yet seen someone ask her point blank. Like I say, maybe I just missed that.

Oh, I don't know about "to her face." But she's gotten hammered pretty good in the professional media and on social media. I don't think anyone has let it go, at all.

As a former member of the Fourth Estate, I am totally and completely behind CNN and Jim Acosta and if you believe in a free press you should to. It doesn't matter if Acosta is an asshole. So is Trump. It doesn't matter if Acosta is abrasive. So is Trump. It doesn't matter if Acosta has no respect for Trump. Trump has no respect for anyone not named Vladimir Putin. IF there were any adults in the White House Playroom someone should pull Trump aside and tell him, "You can't win this. Give him his credentials back and then ignore the fuck out of his ass." That would be the smart play. At least it would be IF Trump were a smart guy instead of such a petty, spiteful, vindictive dumb ass, but "if" is the biggest word in the English language and since nobody in this White House understands that no matter how many times he screams "FAKE NEWS!" and whips up the drooling zombies of his base, the press is not going to stop riding Donald Trump's butt. Nor should they. Presidents come and go, but the need for a free and independent press has to endure beyond four or eight years. When Trump needs or wants the press he gives them all the copy they can handle. When he doesn't he tells them to fuck off. What he does not and can not understand is that the press can fuck back. That is how we got to this. Now that--that is some primo, first-rate, USDA bullshit. The case will go before a Trump-appointed judge so it's possible all of this could be tossed out of court, but Jeff Zucker will just say "Fuck it" and take it to a higher court. This could end up in the laps of The Supremes, but I have some doubts Gorsuch and Kavanaugh want to piss all over the First and Fifth Amendments by handing a complete win to their boss. We'll just have to wait and see. Thomas Jefferson, that old slavefucker, took some time out from chasing Sally Hemmings around Monticello to write to a friend, "The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right. And were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter."
That's the part even today's terrible history books tells to regale us about the awesomeness of Thomas Jefferson. The coda to that sentence gets left out and that's where he added, "But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them.”What an elitist! Donald Trump doesn't read newspapers. I doubt he even knows how. But even he can learn. Or at least be schooled.

CNN's bias against Trump isn't exactly subtle. Trump isn't a man who can handle criticism. I'm only surprised that it's taken this long for reprisals from the WH against CNN. (Unless there were others I missed.) However, I don't think this is about press freedom, it's about Trump making a statement for his base. I doubt it will even get to court. I think they'll wait a while and then quietly give Acosta his WH access back. Trump must know he can't win this one, anyway.
But I don't think Trump will ever pledge forgiveness to those who presspass against him.

Oh, I don't know. Trump holds a grudge, after all. I can see him letting this go to court. And really, even if we assume he would lose, it's not a certainty that this would be resolved before 2020.
I actually liked an idea someone posted on twitter as a better way to respond to Acosta's showboating: whenever he starts his shtick, simply end the press conference. If the White House did that, either Acosta would stop or the rest of the press corps would turn on him. 'Course, it's too late for this, now.
I guess the White House could give him his press pass back, but then simply refuses to call on him, ever.

Well. Fox News is backing Acosta. I rarely say attaboy to Fox News, but here is one of those occasions.

I actually don't think it's a slam dunk Acosta will win. He doesn't have a right to consistently disrupt these press conferences and keep other reporters from asking questions so he can grandstand. Actually, Acosta is the one who is harming freedom of the press by taking away precious minutes for other reporters from other networks to get their fair turn at questions. Acosta is not banned from reporting or watching a live feed of the press conferences, and CNN can have other reporters in the conferences.
And prozyan is being sarcastic in his post just above, I'm sure, but actually, this IS harassment of Trump.
Edited to Add:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC1I5ggF5Hc Dershowitz in a 2 minute interview agrees CNN will have a tough time winning and that the POTUS has a lot of discretion here.

Only two people on this board have the expertise to read the precedent and opine on whether or not this is a good case for Acosta/CNN. To be sure, Dershowitz also has that expertise. But you don't. You're not a lawyer and I'm betting you have not read the case law upon which the law suit is based. Correct? All you can say is that some lawyers, or at least Dershowitz, disagree with the conclusion that others, including Mark and I, have reached. (I will note that Dershowitz seems to be going against the bulk of legal opinion here. See, e.g., www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2018-11-13/trump-will-lose-cnn-s-acosta-suit-does-it-matter www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/11/13/cnn-is-suing-white-house-over-jim-acostas-press-pass-does-network-have-case/ www.axios.com/legal-experts-think-cnn-has-a-case-in-suing-white-house-over-acosta-ceredntials-1542126963-ac6577ae-6b2a-482b-81e8-0e41860d8eec.html ) Similarly, the most I can say on a medical issue is "I've read that...", "Here is an expert who says..." or "Many experts seem to disagree with that conclusion, see, e.g.,..."
