www.gofundme.com/TheTrumpWallApparently started by a vet named Brian Kolfage (a triple amputee with a Purple Heart), the campaign has now topped $11 million in less than one week. It's been shared by people almost 1 million times, and has almost 200,000 donors (that's an average donation of $60). And...GoFundMe has made almost $1 million so far for hosting the campaign. What a bunch of happy horseshit (imo).

Not sure what you mean by " happy horseshit "?
When I read about this, I took it as a form of protest from the other side. Maybe I missed something?

Is it even legal to use these funds and what happens to the $ if the wall doesn't get built?

Is it even legal to use these funds and what happens to the $ if the wall doesn't get built? Ya gotta click on the link, Vince! I think these people don't grasp just how much money $1 billion is, let alone $2.5 to $5 billion. No way they'll even come close. However, I'm all for them paying for it. Honestly, if they want that stupid f-ing wall, they can pay for it out of their own pockets, not my tax dollars.

Smart donors, at that pace they should have enough to build the wall in fifty years.

Come on, $5 billion is only $15 from each and every single person in the US.
Chump change.

Ah, but even a Fox news site had a statistician put the price at $25 billion. So, more than change but I'm with you on the chump angle...

Not to mention only a minority of the U.S. population supports the wall, and of them, only a tiny proportion are going to be inclined to shell out of their own pocket for it. Those who do would have to shell out hundreds or more likely thousands each to get to $25 billion.
Add to that that it isn't simply a matter of funding. There are a hellish number of legal, environmental, and physical hurdles that would need to be solved -- some of which might be unsolvable -- to build that stupid fucking wall that most of us don't want. Add to that that all of it would have to be solved and the money raised while a government is still in place that would want--or at least allow--the wall to go forward. Tick tick tick.
It. Will. Never. Happen. Nor should it. The fund is for chumps; the entire wall concept is for chumps. I wonder how many Trump supporters know it.

I was told Mexico would be paying for the wall. Maybe I missed something?

I was told Mexico would be paying for the wall. Maybe I missed something? I'm shocked that they didn't all run to the border and build it themselves after Trump won the election, just to keep him on this side.

This is sad.

It is sad, but unfortunately way too typical. A FB friend shared a tweet from someone explaining how a border wall wouldn't work, because the Berlin Wall didn't work for the Nazis, therefore stop being a Nazi and asking for a wall...
And really, the "sad" aspect of this coupled with the "stupid" aspect is what's behind my "happy horseshit," because it's just so frustrating.
Here we have a guy, a decorated combat vet who has lost three limbs, who seems quite genuine imo, who I bet thinks what he's doing makes perfect sense, as do a lot of the people sending in their monies.
Setting aside whether or not a wall makes sense (good fences can make good neighbors after all), what I think any reasonable person can allow is that trying to fundraise $5 billion on website to help out the US government pay for something doesn't make a lot (any?) sense. It's almost as dumb as fundraising in order to buy twitter and ban Trump.

It's now at $18 million after 12 days. That's $1.5 million a day. At this rate, it will reach its goal in 666 days (really)!
Coincidence? I think not...

I wholeheartedly support converting ALL government programs to GoFundMe financing.
