I was just curious if anyone is planning on watching the president's SOTU speech tonight. If so, what are your expectations and, frankly, why do you think you'll watch?
Which gives away my position. Trump has proven himself to be the most mendacious president in the nation's history (see, e.g., here and here). The fact is, I can't think of a single reason to believe a word he has to say.
And that makes me wonder: it's a fact that he lies, all of the time, so anyone who chooses to listen/watch tonight, how do you get past that?

No, I'm not planning to watch tonight. But not for any of the leading reasons you mentioned. I'll be more than happy to wait until youtube clips start coming out tomorrow.
For me, it pays to not have a TV. (( saves me money that way))

1st off, he doesn't always lie. He has given his name, and introduced family members. Those are usually true.
2nd off, I've got little interest in nearly any state of the union, let alone his. So no, I won't be watching. Have I in the past? Yeah, I'm pretty sure I watched GWB once, Obama once... Maybe Clinton. Maybe not.
Personally, I would have loved it if they just returned to sending a letter.
But alas, Trump would probably use a giant orange crayon.

Watch the State of the Union 2019? Nah, bro. I got beer, bourbon and porn. We good. I'm with Rep. Earl Blumenauer. Who he? “The thought of spending Tuesday night in the House Chamber listening to the reckless, self-centered man who occupies the White House holds no interest for me. Just like in past years, I plan to skip a speech that will be filled with lies, deception and divisiveness.”I'll probably watch Stacey Abrams clapback instead.
Oh, and Melania dressed up for her hubby's big, dumb-ass speech.

I'll confess I did hear a good part of the SOTU, not because I put it on, but my wife did while I was going over my galleys.
Of note. I have to wonder if Trump's arm is sore from all the times he pat himself on the back.
I'm not an economic expert, but the economy news is welcome. How much was him, congress, or just because I don't know.
Interesting that he got the most applause for the news about women in the economy and in congress. While he might have something to do with the economy and therefore the women, he didn't get any of the women elected to congress as most on the left oppose him. Also interesting that in essence, those women were willing to give themselves a standing ovation.
The only part I liked is the mention of the crime reform bill which is good although doesn't go far enough. I do think the fact the Trump invited former inmates to the SOTU was a good thing.

Not really. For some reason the article pretends that an increase in earnings equates to an ability to meet expenses, implying things have gotten better. The Pew Research Center begs to differ. Also, can I assume you have no problem with it even if she was lying? I mean, you didn't mention any of the lies the president told, so...

You can assume that I believe that any politician ( regardless of party ) who opens their mouth is lying. It's their job, and they (politicians) take their jobs very seriously.
Pretending one side does and one side doesn't is silly in my view.

Pretending one side does and one side doesn't is silly in my view. Something else is silly here. You pretending you're not on one side when you gleefully call out Stacey Abrams for lying while ignoring ALL of Donald Trump's lies.
Choose any side you want, but don't try to come off as anything but the partisan conservative you've always presented yourself as. Ain't nobody buying that.
