And as an independent voter who isn't voting for Trump, I gotta say that using the ACA, the Recovery Act, and the Iran deal to highlight Biden's accomplishments is...well, those are the wrong things to use. Yeah, he should've touted his support for civil asset forfeiture, and also his whining that Reagan and Bush Sr. weren't tough enough on drugs.

Yeah, he should've touted his support for civil asset forfeiture, and also his whining that Reagan and Bush Sr. weren't tough enough on drugs. Ha, even that long-held stance is suddenly - and I'm sure completely coincidentally - starting to crumble after his showing in Iowa. Or maybe not? It's hard to tell, given that it apparently depends on which crowd he's talking to (or maybe he was having another "my hairy legs" moment): Joe Biden kinda, sorta, almost endorses legalizing marijuana

So, Joe Biden's "cranky old asshole" persona seems to come out a lot on the campaign trail, much to the chagrin of his campaign staff, I'm sure. There are more examples of this than I care to count, just from the past few months, and I'm really surprised someone hasn't compiled them all into an attack ad yet (or maybe they have and I just haven't seen it?). Just two examples: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFWG83ozjFcwww.youtube.com/watch?v=xhcsQ8PZy5MWell, now he's (jokingly?) called a 21-year-old woman a "lying, dog-faced pony soldier" when she asked him a question at one of his events about his performance in Iowa. I'm sure it's just him trying to be jocular-and-folksy-yet-dismissive, and several people laughed (probably nervously) but Christ, who doesn't have the sense to NOT call a woman "lying" and "dog-faced" (or any voter at any event, really, but especially a woman in today's climate) and then condescendingly explain ("mansplain" ) to her and everyone else "how caucuses work" to deflect away from why he came in 4th? Slate's take on it: slate.com/culture/2020/02/joe-biden-dog-faced-pony-soldier-john-wayne-tyrone-power.html

Yeah, I don't know what movie Biden thinks he is quoting, but he's not doing it right. And calling a young voter a liar simply because he can't really answer her question in a straightforward way (how about, "unfortunately, my opponents just did a better job here in Iowa, which is a message to me that I have to do better going forward if I hope to earn the nomination") is just not smart.

Unless Biden wins SC in a massive landslide I think it will be the end of the road for him.

Well, shit. Yang just dropped out. I was hoping he'd be able to stick it out and gain some momentum once others dropped out. Oh well, maybe 2024. www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/andrew-yang-drops-out-presidential-race-n1134161Looks like Biden's campaign is dead in the water. I don't see him staying in after SC. Warren also looks to be done. A lot of Biden's voters will likely go to Buttigieg. Warren's might split between Bernie and the ones who are voting based solely on gender/sex will go to Klobuchar.

I really want to understand Pete better, but so far he's the one I'm rooting for. I'm wondering if it's worth changing my registration from independent to D at this point.

According to that link Rob posted, someone named Bennet is running. Is this news to anyone besides me?

Yeah, I saw that moronic hot-take on several of the left-leaning broadcasts last night. ABC had some woman on who kept echoing the same. No idea who she was but she kept entertaining herself by making the same lazy arguments against Sanders, every chance she got. I was thinking the same thing that your article says, and that I think any reasonable person with a functioning brain could figure out: Bernie got over 30% last time because he didn't have 7 other candidates running against him at the same time. More people on the ballot means smaller pieces of pie. This is elementary-school-level math that the pundits don't seem to be able to grasp.

With the rise of Klobuchar and Buttigieg and the prominence of Bloomberg, things for the Democrats are shaping up the same way they did in 2016 for Trump. Trump got all his early momentum with only about 30% of the vote. But when there are four candidates, 30% wins. Klobuchar, Buttigieg, and Bloomberg are all likely to split voters among them and Bernie has his 30% dedicated base. The centrists in the party are going to weaken each other and hand the nomination to Bernie. At which time heads will explode within the DNC
