Yikes...that's, uh....yeah. Much worse than Dubya Bush's "hand wipe" moment but I don't think Bush was being racist (he was in a very humid place and most people's hands were likely drenched in sweat and it's gross to shake sweaty hands). I can't really see much of a good excuse here for King Charles, especially given the rumours about him seemingly worried about the possibility that his grandchild would have brown skin.
In terms of people not believing Markle's claims (even though she didn't name names), I think a lot of people are more willing to believe "the Family" not liking her isn't largely about race because: 1) she comes across as insufferably vapid and woke and likely incredibly annoying to interact with, 2) non-racists generally don't want to have to come to grips with the fact that they're fans of awful racists, so denial is their only option.
