So, creepy Chris Matthews, who has dodged allegations of sexual harassment for years (all while committing actual sexual harassment on air) and has stuck his foot in his mouth more times than can be counted over the past couple of weeks, months, and years, abruptly "retired" at the beginning of his show Monday night.
Immediately afterwards, the show cut to commercial, came back with Steve Kornacki looking like a deer in headlights, who nervously rambled something about Matthews being a giant in the field, then immediately cut to commercial again (probably so everyone could figure out WTF was going on).
Can't say I'm going to miss him. I've always found him to be a smug, insufferable dinosaur whose "hot takes" on the day's politics were as wrong-headed as they were archaic. He was also a living cringe-fest meme, as The Daily Show demonstrated so well just a few days ago:
Christ, that video is so gross. I feel like I need a shower to wash the slime off just from watching it.
His "retirement" comes directly after his Nazi comments, his berating of Warren the other night about why she believed Bloomberg's accusers and not Bloomberg himself, and an article printed Friday accusing him of even more inappropriate behaviour toward a female colleague on air a few years ago (which, as the vid above shows, was his usual cringey, creepy shtick for years.
I don't believe for a minute that this decision was "mutual." They likely shit-canned him and, honestly, they should've done it years ago.
