De Blasio is clearly off his nut:
With all the the problems in NYC right now, kids struggling, increased crime, businesses folding up, his big solution is...street dancers. Idiot.

Personal Covid update:
Both of may parents, 88 and 80, have received the vaccine now. My father got it a few weeks ago from the VA. My mother has been a real pain about it, haven taken a fatalist view of things, ala "You and your kids will get it before I ever do." I've been trying to reassure her that she'd get it sooner rather than later, but frankly the lockdowns--even the Florida version--has had her kind of depressed (even though she didn't go anywhere prior to the lockdown). In contrast, my father--he's the one who's 88--has just been soldiering on through it all, doing the grocery shopping, going out to pick up food on occasion, getting car repairs, and so on. He misses the casino, but beyond that he's cool.
My youngest--8th grade--is heading into the home stretch for school. In-person learning has been fine; the occasional Covid cases--that would lead to cleaning of the school and required quarantines for anyone in close contact--have diminished severely. The teachers I know just aren't that worried, given that they've got the routine down pat now, with cleaning, mask-wearing, and being careful. I've re-booked our trip to Universal Studios that I was taking with her last March (I'm watching case numbers, but feel pretty good about going forward with this).

www.foxnews.com/politics/michigan-coronavirus-data-gretchen-whitmer-lawsuitI don't know shit about Michigan's Covid situation, about how it collects and releases data about the same. But what I do know is that one dingleberry of a a data "scientist" in Florida has become a national celebrity--and scored some major jingle--for claiming Florida's data was flawed in some way (even though there's no hard evidence to make her case), while States like NY, NJ, PA, and MI got a pass from most of the media for almost a year, even though there were some obvious reasons to question their approaches (which is not to say that Florida did everything right, by any means). Do I sound bitter?

That's what I was thinking. Millions of these vaccines have been given, just like with all other vaccines. I'm sure there are people who get very sick and/or die shortly after getting other vaccines, but that doesn't mean it was the vaccine and we sure as hell don't see a news story about every single one of them, like what we're getting now.

Yeah, it's more evidence that people in general, but especially in the shitty media that we have, don't understand statistical associations (i.e., correlations). For example, I don't see anyone reporting on how Nicholas Cage movies are causing people to drown in their pools. It's obviously a media cover-up!: www.tylervigen.com/spurious-correlations
