So, the outrage de jour on the Right is over Netlfix and its decision to stream "Cuties," a French film that...well, I'll let a Roger Ebert reviewer summarize it, since I haven't seen it:
After that, apparently Amy comes back around and starts being a little girl once again.
Anyway, the outrage is over the explicit sexualizing of children (girls) in the movie, which of course the movie does. But as a the above review notes, it does so in order to criticize such sexualization.
From my point of view, there are three audiences here:
1) The audiences within the film itself (adults watching these girls perform)
2) The people watching the film for the story
3) The people watching the film for the sex
Obviously, part of the point of the movie is that group 1) is effed-up. And that can only be achieved by showing what it shows, I think, thus there's no way to not give group 3) what they're looking for. But that's always the case in films that deal with psychosexual imagery, no? Whether it's a simple sex scene, or one involving rape, pedophilia, snuff, etc., there's always going to be an element out there looking to get off on stuff that wasn't specifically for them in this regard (unlike actual porn). So what?
Anyway, here's the Federalist getting all outragey: thefederalist.com/2020/09/10/cancel-netflix-trends-as-streaming-service-releases-cuties-film-starring-sexualized-young-girls/
People ARE cancelling Netflix over this; it remains to be seen if enough will do so to have any real impact on the company (doubt it).

That's unfortunate...
“Cuties” is a coming-of-age story of a girl caught between cultures and age. 11-year-old Amy (Fathia Youssouf Abdillahi), the eldest daughter of a Senegalese family living in Paris, must help her mother, Miriam (Maïmouna Gueye), around the apartment with mundane tasks like watching her younger siblings, going out for supplies, and cleaning messes. Then, Miriam learns that her husband has taken a new wife, and Amy is reluctantly swept up in the preparation for their impending nuptials. Although her family is devoutly Muslim, Amy begins to admire a dance group at school who call themselves Cuties—Angelica (Medina El Aidi), Coumba (Esther Gohourou), Jess (Ilanah Cami-Goursolas) and Yasmine (Myriam Hamma)—and tries to join their ranks. She starts dressing more like them and doing what they dare her to do. Finally, she figures out a way to get the cool girls to accept her by learning provocative moves that will help them win a dance competition against a rival group of older girls. Amy gets caught up in the whirlwind of her emotions and runs afoul of her mother’s expectations.

That person looks pretty much exactly how I thought they'd look.
