Congress passed a $900 billion pandemic relief package Monday night. Despite claims that this is an emergency package for Americans, a significant portion of funds is going towards foreign aid.
For example, Pakistan is set to receive up to $15 million for “democracy programs” and $10 million for “gender programs” and Sri Lanka will receive up to $15 million “for the refurbishing of a high endurance cutter,” a type of patrol boat.
Other countries set to receive aid include Vietnam, Afghanistan, Nepal, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Columbia, Peru, Ecuador, Curacao, Trinidad, Tobago, Venezuela, Georgia and Ukraine.

Amash, Gabbard, and Tlaib(!!)--along with some fifty Repubs--voted against the bill in the House.

So, they're handing colleges and universities billions on one hand and preparing to cancel student debt on the other. Where the fuck did all that money people borrowed to get degrees go to, then?

Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and conservative firebrand Sen. Ted Cruz found rare common ground this week, agreeing that lawmakers didn’t have enough time to read the massive coronavirus relief bill before voting on it.
“This is why Congress needs time to actually read this package before voting on it. Members of Congress have not read this bill. It’s over 5000 pages, arrived at 2pm today, and we are told to expect a vote on it in 2 hours,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted late Monday after the $900 billion bill was approved.
“This isn’t governance. It’s hostage-taking,” she said, referring to a provision in the bill that would make illegal streaming for commercial profit a felony.
Less than an hour later, Cruz tweeted: “@aoc is right.”

One of the biggest beneficiaries would be schools, which would get $82 billion, the majority of which would go to elementary and secondary schools. There would be $23 billion for colleges and universities.
The bill would also set aside $1.7 billion for historically Black colleges and universities, tribal colleges and institutions that primarily serve minorities, Democrats said. An additional $10 billion would go to child care services to provide child care assistance to families and help child care providers pay for added costs, Republicans and Democrats said.
In a win for Democrats, the legislation would provide funding for a new museum focused on American Latinos as part of the Smithsonian.
