So, I've been on a South Park kick for much of the holiday season, since all of the episodes are currently available on HBO Max and because Comedy Central has been running marathons of the same (along with The Office and Futurama; great original programming there, eh?).
One of the running gags from the 20th season on is that of "member berries," grape-like berries that constantly say things like "(re)member Star Wars, member Toto, member Reagan," and so on (other berries would respond with "oh, I member") in what is--imo--a deeply clever mocking of nostalgia as a basis for public policy and film-making.
Anyway...remember when clampdowns on journalism and free speech were simply bad, when people--on the left, in particular--were upset with the US government and US companies for doing regular business with countries who engaged in such things?

Oh sure, there will be some hand-wringing, a bit of finger-wagging, but at the end of the day it will be ignored.
