A five part documentary on HBO, the series investigates the Knutby (Sweden) murder of 2004.
The first two episodes are blah. I almost stopped watching, in fact, because it became apparent that the filmmakers were purposefully hiding info from the narrative to extend the series. I'm certain the whole thing could have been done in two or three episodes (though I haven't seen the finale, which comes on tonight).
Anyway, what you have here are a bunch of cultish people in a small Swedish town led by multiple charismatic leaders. And the crimes the series covered resulted in a guy going to jail for life for supposedly compelling a woman to kill two people, his wife and the husband of his current lover (only the first was killed, the other was only injured). the women who confessed to the shooting didn't get life, she was institutionalized for being loony and is now free.
My take on what I've seen so far: he's probably a douchebag, he may be happy his wife is dead, but I have serious doubts on his guilt (maybe that will change tonight). She may have mental problems, but her story is one big load. I seriously doubt she shot anyone.
There are other players, including a women who claims to be the bride of Christ. I think she's also a murderer.
Anyway, worth watching after you get through the first two episodes.
Here's a review (has spoilers, but the whole thing isn't really a mystery): www.thedailybeast.com/the-bride-of-christ-cult-that-commanded-a-woman-to-kill
