Allow me to be frank:
If you're driving your car in traffic and are more or less keeping up with traffic, you shouldn't be using your hazard lights. If it's raining like a mf-er and you're toolin' down I-95, you shouldn't be using your hazard lights. When do you use your hazard lights? Simple, when you're a hazard to other drivers*, like if you're car broke down and you're in the middle of the road or on the shoulder of an interstate. or if you're going so slow as to be a real problem.
I don't grok the fvckers out there who can't comprehend this, it drives me nuts.
And I thought misusing your hazards was always illegal. But apparently it's only illegal in ten states. Florida was one of them. But not for much longer: www.usnews.com/news/best-states/florida/articles/2021-05-31/florida-drivers-can-start-using-hazard-lights-in-rain-july-1
I hope he vetoes it, I really do.
* I guess one could argue that anyone who misuses their hazard lights is by definition a danger to other drivers, so they should just always have them one to let everyone else know to avoid them like the plague.

Beginning July 1, unless Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoes the measure, Florida drivers will be allowed to use hazard lights on roads with speed limits at or above 55 mph when the conditions create “extremely low visibility.”
The law rebuts years of messaging by state traffic officials, who have been telling drivers on social media, on highway signs and in news stories not to use those lights in the rain.
“If driving in rain is too dangerous, pull off the road,” warned the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles in a 2015 tweet. “DO NOT activate hazard lights while still traveling.”
For years, the Florida Highway Patrol has warned motorists that using hazard lights while driving is confusing, that troopers look for the flashing lights to see if a driver needs help, and that hazard lights can override the car’s turn signals, making it dangerous to change lanes. The lights were only supposed to be used when stopped on the side of the road or during a funeral procession.
