When I saw this pic floating around Twitter today, I was immediately skeptical.
It looks VERY staged and looks like what a leftist thinks all Virginian Republicans look like, because they've gotta all be racists, because all Republicans are racists, amirite? C'mon, the tiki torches really stretch the credulity of any reasonable person. Only a fool would believe this is real, imo.
But, in what looks like an effort to throw people off that this was obviously a staged, pathetic attempt by VA Dems to smear Youngkin, they even included a black guy...whom a lot of people on Twitter say looks like Clayton Bigsby.
And...plot twist...(but not really because this was so obvious)...it was completely staged. So far, at least two of the "racist Republicans" in the photo have been identified as young Virginia Democrat operatives. Please feign shock with me.

Ha, now the Lincoln Project is trying to claim that they were behind this stunt and that it was actually a "demonstration." Hilarious.
Odd that Democrat operatives working for Virginia Democrats would participate in something supposedly staged by the Lincoln Project. Also odd that it took LP most of the day before they finally owned up to it.
I wonder how many frantic phone calls were exchanged today to try to cover up this mess before LP eventually agreed to it; "Yeah, we'll fall on this sword. They'll probably believe it because they'd expect something like this from us."
I still think it was some young VA Dem dipshits who took it upon themselves to try to smear Youngkin by passing themselves off as legit supporters. I want to doubt that the VA Dem party was officially behind it, but given how much McAulliffe has been slipping in the polls, I'm not so sure now.
The other possibility is that LP really did do this without bothering to inform the VA Dem party and, in turn, made the VA Dems (and everyone else involved) look like complete jackasses. Given LP's horrible track record, I can believe this because piss poor planning and incompetent execution are kind of LP's bread and butter.
Whatever the case, this entire thing smells fishier than Red Lobster.

Ha, perhaps LP is becoming too predictable. This reporter called it hours before LP 'fessed up:

The Lincoln Project proves yet again it is prepared to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The truth is it only became a "demonstration" after someone--Vice News?--noted that one of the people was a Dem operative. If that hadn't happened, people would have just allowed that it was exactly what it appeared to be. Four of the five have now been credibly identified as either strongly affiliated with or directly working for VA Democrats. I have little doubt that the fifth also works for VA Dems in some capacity. I don't have the time to dig up the tweets, but NuanceBro posted a really informative deep dive into this today (as an aside, he also posted Trump's full "very fine people on both sides" quote, which until now I didn't know how much the narrative around that quote was complete bullshit). Worth a watch:
