I admit I'm fond enough of my kangaroo shot to consider framing and displaying it, even though technically the kangaroo is not another living person. It's just so silly and it brings back the memory of a ridiculously fun day.
It's a pity that guide lived half a world away. He was actually a zoologist who did expert lectures on some of the beasties in the museum (snakes I think) -- and with a distinct silly streak, so exactly my type. He got me to touch giant living insects, including this hideous huge cockroach thing, so you know he was charming.
If my 13-year-old niece did a glamour shot, I'd probably think it looked sweet, too, because I think everything she does is sweet. But if she started putting framed copies of it around her bedroom, her younger sisters would tease the living crap out of her until she took it down.

My nephew is part of the selfie-generation. He hand his boyfriend snap each other all the time, together or apart. I allow myself to feel ageistically grumpy about that. Unfortunately my partner has been influenced by the kids, but my grumpy reaction has weaned him off any desire to include me.

That's a great pic, and I'm not just saying it because you're an omnipotent mod or a deft poet or any of that.. I like the whimsy, and it's cool to know that you've been in Sydney.
The museum is fun and interesting - sadly under-funded, IIRC. And for years, artifacts in storage went missing. I suppose that can happen with museums.
Anyhow. I don't shed any tears for Kellyanne Conway, and it's some small comfort to know that the Left are equal-opportunity mockers of appearance - seeing as how Trump and Bannon get it regularly too. OTOH, I think the message is stronger when it's focused on what they do, rather than what sort of taste or look they have. (Then again, it's telling that the Clintonistas embraced the pantsuit thing, rather than kvetching about the shots she took.)

I spent almost 4 weeks in Australia. It was just an amazing trip, every last minute of it. Snorkeled the Great Barrier reef, walked around (not on!) Uluru, the Daintree rain forest, Sydney, Melbourne -- loved every minute.
But even with all that, my silly day in the museum stands out. It was a great museum, with very enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff -- and of course, at least one who was also delightfully silly. I'm afraid that's not the only picture we took...
Australia has so much interesting natural history stuff I think exploring that side of things is a must. So many things you won't find anywhere else.

Cass that picture is adorable, and certainly worthy of being hung up.
I once had a photo shopped picture of me in a Starfleet uniform on the cover of Time magazine with Captain Kirk.
Not sure where it is now.

I'm sure I'd like the Starfleet one.
I have a prejudice in favor of fun and silly (and, obviously, a prejudice against put-on glamour).
Heh. I suppose that's why I've been cooing over the dear cuddly Michelle Obama/George Bush pictures -- and rolling my eyes at Trump ordering a six-foot portrait of himself.

I don't really get any enjoyment from poking fun at people's personal foibles, no matter how odious their actions are. That said, I don't imagine putting up glamour shots of myself in my home, but I do seem to be vain enough to take a relatively good photo of me and turn it into an avatar. So I've got no high ground either. Still, if you squint, the photo could be Madonna as Norma Desmond... right? Wrong. Madonna is aging before our eyes, but she's not as stomped, whupped up and beat as Kellyanne Conway. Conway only looks good when Kate McKinnon is playing her. It's something I can't imagine for myself -- "honey, I got undressed in front of a stranger, just for you" -- but I can sure understand that other people would absolutely love it. And where, then, does this photo rank on a scale of 1 to Ben Carson and Jesus? Nowhere near as creepy or vain. As far as it being "cruel" to rag on Kellyanne's look, I got no shits to give. It's a sexist world and women get ragged on for superficial reasons. I'll be fair. Let's all laugh at how lumpy and dumpy Donald Trump is compared to President Slim.

Obama was easily one of our best-looking presidents, IMO. 2012 may have been our best year for candidate eye candy -- Romney vs Obama. Love or hate their politics, both handsome, elegant-looking devils (or at least I think so).
That was my bit of shallowness and objectification for the day.

While we're being shallow:
Trump seems to have gained weight over the last few months. At his age, he should take better care of himself.
And I'm with Cass on Romney being handsome. Obama isn't my type. (not racist) Van Jones? Holy crap, is he handsome and sexy! Obama, not so much.

I don't really care if people make fun of someone to a certain degree for how they look. When the first Democrat debate happened I remember saying Jim Webb looked like an angry potato. He did. And I liked him. Would have probably voted for him had he gotten the nomination.
Having said that, if you go nuts if someone makes fun of Clinton's pants suit, then you have no room to make fun of anyone's looks, IMHO. If you don't go batcrap crazy over the little things, then fine.
I don't care for Kellyanne myself, but that shouldn't matter if something is off limits.

Wrong. Madonna is aging before our eyes, but she's not as stomped, whupped up and beat as Kellyanne Conway. Conway only looks good when Kate McKinnon is playing her. We all age; I'd rather be aging than not. I'd say it's more a testament to her longevity that she's still here and not a "where are they now?" trivia question. Looking good is certainly part of her career description, and after that many years and miles, she's done well IMO. I'm not necessarily a Madonna fan, but credit where it's due. As for Kellyanne, see below: No sympathy for her as an evil minion and spinner of lies. How she looks isn't relevant. If we had a White House full of people who looked like Trump, Conway, and Bannon - but were doing great things - nobody would care. Talking about appearances is a digression. Nowhere near as creepy or vain. So, that's a 3? As far as it being "cruel" to rag on Kellyanne's look, I got no shits to give. It's a sexist world and women get ragged on for superficial reasons. I'll be fair. Let's all laugh at how lumpy and dumpy Donald Trump is compared to President Slim. Yup: Anyhow. To be fair -- I flagged this thread as light and fluffy with the title, and put it in the general discussion section rather than the substantive section. I can't stand Conway, but this isn't why. I agree it's quite trivial.
Nonetheless, I'm fond of poking fun at human foibles, especially those that arise from vanity. This struck me as one, and gave me a giggle.
Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time for me to look at endearing pictures of the Bush and Obama families, or perhaps some shirtless Justin Trudeau shots. Or possibly I'll do some work.

There we go. Now that Justin Trudeau made an appearance, this proves that politics these days is a contest between people we'd like to see shirtless and people we most definitely do not want to see, period. I present to you, the next President of The Republic of France. The shirtless pics are likely to follow any day now...
