...like The Colline Gate on Facebook and follow The Colline Gate on twitter. And take 30 seconds a day to retweet The Colline Gate's tweets. It's the only way I know to gain exposure without spending money. And right now, I don't want to spend money. P.S. Or else.

I'll look today at signing up for twitter, linking to some folks, and doing just that. And I'll consider this weekend what else I can do. I would so much love to get a lot of voices here.
I admit I've held off on pulling in a number of friends. Not because I don't plan on doing it, but simply because the election upset a lot of them; I'm giving them a wee bit of time to regain their equilibrium before trying to yank them into political discussion! Because, like, I have to deal with them in real life. But I do know people who I think would enjoy it, and they probably know others who would enjoy it.

I've been trying. I'll even claim credit for our latest newb, even though she's a gurl. Even though registrations are slow, if the stats are to be believed there's a lot of activity. Look at the current numbers; 171 guests in the last 24 hours. 53 users online at one time, on a day when 12 members max were here. So that means at one point there were at least 41 guests reading the board. And I've been watching those numbers climb every day. Do you get graphs on stats? I bet they'd be fascinating. It's not CNN or HuffPo, but it's not nothing, either.

I just linked my Google Analytics to the site, so I'll be getting them going forward.
But you know, the spikes in guests occur when I use the in-thread sharing feature and share threads to twitter, FB, Google+, and/or Linkedin. Or when I otherwise tweet about the forum from it's account. Then I go to my personal twitter account and retweet all this. That's what is driving visibility. If ten peeps retweeted or shared threads, the numbers would go up ten-fold.

I wonder if you should pin a more centrist political discussion at the top of the Twitter, or maybe have one left and one right discussion pinned. Because right now from the first few tweets, it looks like the site leans right, and that might scare people away especially so soon after this election. Just a thought.
But excellent work on getting this place viewed! Yes, the site is slowly but surely growing. I'm learning a lot from you on how to market a website.

That's a good point, c.e. As a matter of fact, I think our members do fall on all sides, and I think even those of our members to the right actually have some views that those on the left can sympathize and agree with. But given how polarized the country is just now, alas, I think there's pretty much an assumption that the entire nation consists of extremists on one side or another, and actively hostile to hearing any other views.
It's freaking sad. I want this site to be part of getting PAST that and engaging in a dialogue where we argue and debate, but where we ultimately listen and understand one another better, even if we don't agree.
Yeah, the country has some people who will NEVER listen to any other view. Some people really are intolerant, closed-minded, and/or bigoted and cannot be reclaimed. And that's a damn shame. But the rest of us need to talk, stat.
Seriously, internet -- this site doesn't want a slant. We have members from all sides and we want it to stay that way. Bring your A-game, leave the insults at home, but we want you and we want your views. Seriously.
ETA:
You don't agree with something someone here said? Come tell us why. Tell us why we've got it all wrong. We may not agree (though actually, it's likely someone here will), but we want to hear.

I've been ignoring Twitter for a long time, but I've fired it back up and I'm starting to get the hang of it again. I've tweeted and retweeted, and just had one of my TCG tweets retweeted, so that's a start.
