derail (in case anyone else needs a laugh as badly as I did):
Why I love Rick Wilson (my fave NeverTrump conservative), part eleventy million:
Man makes me laugh every day, however ridiculously grumpy I might be. If I ever meet a man in real life who has that effect on me, I shall marry him immediately.
ETA:
Part eleventy million and one: Rick's ongoing infrastructure week joke (raised every time Trump has a particularly outrageous week, which is pretty much every week):

Well! Now HERE is an awesome way to deal with a douchebag who grabs your ass. I'm going to try to post the video as a separate clip, but if I can't, do click on the article and click on the video (sometimes I have issues posting videos embedded in news stories using our little video link feature). spoiler -- 175 pound asshole douchebag grabs 115 pound waitress's ass as he goes by. She, infuriated, goes after him, grabs him, throws him to the ground, and yells at him. It was all caught on the restaurant's security tape, from the ass grab to the throw-down. And it's awesome. Too bad Harvey Weinstein et al. didn't get this treatment. Might have made them think twice about trying it again. Story: www.wtoc.com/story/38686164/security-camera-catches-savannah-waitress-fending-off-apparent-groperJust the video clip of the incident: www.wtoc.com/clip/14501611/security-camera-catches-savannah-waitress-fending-off-apparent-groperBy the way? Apparently the guy's wife and kids were in the restaurant, so he really had some fucking gall. The guy was arrested after the cops arrived -- in front of his wife and kids. (I'm very sorry for them, but not at all for Mr. Douchebag.) WHAT IS WRONG WITH GUYS LIKE THIS?! WHY DO THEY THINK THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH SHIT LIKE THIS?!

Actually he had the same amount of gall as a man without a wife and kids in the restaurant. I'm also slightly irked--even though I totally get the cheering and I'm also cheering and I'm feeling, I guess emotionally empowered by the woman's throw down--that women who are capable of doing that are by some promoted as a solution to unwanted groping. I would like to be more of bad ass in this way, I would like to PUNCH the guy in his stupid fucking face, but when it comes to situations like this... I've been... only slightly better with words if I'm lucky. I'm cool with all women and girls being ninja-trained, henceforth. But it's not reality for a lot of women. ETA: edits above and also (not sure if this the best place for this and also not sure if it's already been discussed elsewhere) - I read about a female high school student stabbing a male student with a pair of scissors after he lifted her skirt. Link: www.wxii12.com/article/police-teen-girl-stabs-male-classmate-with-scissors-after-he-pulls-up-her-dress/20265151The boy was charged with sexual battery and the girl was charged with assault. There were interwebz arguments that she'd "gone too far" and "she could have mortally wounded him" and so forth. Arguments that her response was inappropriate and disproportionate, and apparently the police agreed. I pretty much disagree, but, anyway. There's that too, when it comes to women defending themselves against groping.

I agree that the standard for what women should do can't be "throw the guy to the ground and stomp on him."
But a fun fact, if it helps -- this woman didn't have any self-defense lessons before this! What you see on the video is just sheer unbridled rage (helped by the fact that she obviously caught the guy off guard). That was part of what I enjoyed about it. Apparently she didn't really stop to think -- once she processed that this asshole had grabbed her ass, she just fucking acted. I've never done that either, and it might not be the wisest thing to do, but damn was it fun to watch him get his!
On the gall -- I don't mean from the point of view of the waitress. I agree, wherever the guy's family was, whether he had a family or not, the guy had no fucking right to grab her ass and it's equally a bad act. Absolutely, I agree.
What I mean is this: while I'm sure he wasn't foreseeing the waitress being able to throw him down, nor that it would be captured on tape, it surely was foreseeable that she might object and call him out. And his fucking wife and kids, being right there, would witness it and know what he did. So apparently, he's so fucking arrogant that either he figured the waitress would meekly submit and say nothing, or his wife would just suck it up, or both. (Whereas if the wife and kids were not there, he might have figured that they'd never ever know, even if the waitress did call him out.)
I hope his wife divorces his ass. And I feel really shitty for those poor kids. I cannot imagine watching my dear dad being hauled off to jail because he was such an asshole he grabbed a waitress right in front of me and my mom. Holy crap, what an asshole!

I get your meaning now - the gall to feel so completely immune from reprisal that he did it while his wife and kids were close by. True enough.
I too love that this woman just apparently reacted and her first instinct was OH HELL NO and to punish the asshole offender.
I have a tendency to go on about culture and how it's really fucked up imo sometimes and so, in this case, I'll say I think more women would react the way she did--as long as the situation was non-life threatening--without the ingrained societal mandate to behave in a more restrained, gentle, demure manner, and the bullshit that boys will be boys and this sort of thing isn't so bad, relatively rare, not like it's life threatening (e.g., link to high school kids above--apparently the law still says so, too). That, plus being trained to believe that women are the prey, men are the predators, and the woman's prime directive is to protect herself or extricate herself, as opposed to being confrontational, in response to an assault or an unwanted advance. It's gotten better, and there have always been outliers, but the fact that we all watch that video and cheer is in large part, I think, because it's not a common response.

Because of course, although everyone has the right to a legal defense, and lawyers have an obligation to provide the best possible defense they can within the parameters of the law and their ethical obligations as lawyers, it is always the lawyer who is to blame, not the douchebag criminal client who is such a shithead that the defense options are pretty fucking limited.
ETA:
As much as I'm shaking my head over this defense, I'll be damned if I can think of a better one, given his douchebaggery.

There's that too, when it comes to women defending themselves against groping. See, she should've been carrying. That's the problem -- there was an opportunity to involve a gun, and she didn't take it. Always Use Guns to settle anything. Shooting him would've been legit self-defense and appropriate use of force.

A thought exercise: If women start shooting men who grope them, what will happen first? a) men who grope stop groping b) Congress enacts sensible gun control laws c) potato

I like those cool purple ones you see at the farmer's market sometimes. Can we get those?

YUSSSS (I was going to post an image of a potato gun, but the search results offered a list of YouTube videos - I foresaw being sucked into a time vortex, and becoming depressed. So... sorry. )
