Oh, I agree - I think Oprah is really pretty stupid, and very much a believer in woo-woo nonsense. Whatever grounding she had in the real world (and she did have some, originally) has inevitably been eroded by becoming one of the richest people in the world. When you're surrounded by people whose full-time job it is to kiss your ass and make sure no problem ever troubles you, how can your worldview not be distorted?
I don't want celebrities, I don't want dynasties. But that's very much the direction we are headed.

I can't agree that Oprah is stupid. Any woman who builds her own multi-billion dollar empire from her humble beginnings cannot be stupid, in my book. Just as Dr. Oz, educated at Harvard, with an MBA from Wharton and an M.D. from U Penn, then a successful cardiothoracic/heart transplant surgeon, can't be stupid.
Was Oprah naive? Willing to believe a snake oil salesman doc with Oz's credentials? A lay person who wasn't able to critically analyze the medical stuff? Yeah. But not stupid. Many people believe in woo woo nonsense for other reasons than stupidity.
Oz, on the other hand doesn't have the excuse of naivete. That leaves greed and the need for fame and adulation, IMO.
I also don't think her world view is distorted that much. She grew up in the sorts of socio-economic challenges that never leave you, no matter how rich you become. She's invested $$$$ into charities that show her involvement in, knowledge of, and sympathy towards real, gritty, difficult world problems.
Note, the above doesn't mean I would vote for her for POTUS. At this point, I would not. Even against Trump.

Maybe not literally stupid - I don't know what her IQ is. But she has never struck me as particularly intellectual, and her readiness to believe the most patently absurd nonsense if it caters to her ego or her preconceptions does not speak well of her critical thinking skills.
And her building a multi-billion dollar empire is more about luck than business savvy. Lightning struck, she became enormously popular (yes, there was some talent and work involved for her to become a media personality in the first place), and once you have that kind of money, it's a heck of a lot easier to make more.
Basically, I think Oprah is a nice person and would be better than Trump (your dog would be better than Trump), but I don't credit her with actually being that smart.

Yeah, I agree she's not at all stupid. Probably very sharp.
But, she doesn't come across to me as much of an analytic thinker and she's way too credulous of bullshit that feeds into her biases (like the garbage that came out of Dr. Phil's and Dr. Oz's mouths and all the other woo she's fallen for).
