Best pic:
“Call Me by Your Name”
“Darkest Hour”
“Dunkirk”
“Get Out”
“Lady Bird”
“Phantom Thread”
“The Post”
“The Shape of Water”
“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
Best actor:
Timothée Chalamet, “Call Me by Your Name”
Daniel Day-Lewis, “Phantom Thread”
Daniel Kaluuya, “Get Out”
Gary Oldman, “Darkest Hour”
Denzel Washington, “Roman J. Israel, Esq.”
Best actress:
Sally Hawkins, “The Shape of Water”
Frances McDormand, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
Margot Robbie, “I, Tonya”
Saoirse Ronan, “Lady Bird”
Meryl Streep, “The Post”
Best director:
“Dunkirk,” Christopher Nolan
“Get Out,” Jordan Peele
“Lady Bird,” Greta Gerwig
“Phantom Thread,” Paul Thomas Anderson
“The Shape of Water,” Guillermo del Toro
The rest are at the link. I assume--and of course I may be wrong--that Blade Runner 2049 is gonna suck up most of the tech awards.
I've only seen two of the nominated flicks, Dunkirk and Get Out. Both were enjoyable, but neither struck me as Oscar-worthy. Anyone see some of the others? Are there some true gems in there?
Oh, and Christopher Plummer secured a supporting actor nom for his Spacey fill-in role. That's gotta sting for Spacey (and good that it does, imo).
