Seriously, I was certain she'd be the last one standing. I am genuinely astonished.

It's odd Hope Hicks was the White House Communications Director, but the only TV footage I've seen of her actually speaking was at a Trump rally last year. In Corey Lewandowski's book that nobody read, he relates a tale where Trump said of Hicks, "she has as much experience as a coffee cup" to which Lewandowski replied that Hicks was "good looking" to which Trump responded, "that always helps." Lewandowski also says Hicks had another responsibility. Ew. There's a visual I did not need. Nothing I've read about Ms. Hicks leads me to believe she was anything more than a very pretty face Trump liked hanging around because she was a very pretty face. If she is willing to dye her hair, she could have a very lucrative and successful career as a Fox News Blonde. Best of luck, H.H.

She was obviously unqualified, and it was indeed difficult to figure out just what her function was, except that she seemed always to be by his side -- which is what made her important. Whatever there is to be seen, she has very likely seen.
I think she was there because Trump liked to look at her, and because he firmly believed in her to-the-death loyalty to him. If he was mistaken about that (and I think he was), things are likely to get very interesting.
ETA:
I mean, she was as ubiquitous as Karl Rove, except she was a silent, pretty, 20-something chick with way too much makeup. People around her dropped like flies, yet she never fell out of favor with him. I can't think of anyone else I could say that about.
Lots of people have theorized that she was in fact his mistress. I have no idea, but in any case it's clear she wasn't there because of her experience or outstanding brilliance. IMO, taking that aside, she was there (at least so constantly there) largely because of her perceived loyalty. And now she's quit -- very suddenly and unexpectedly, a day after her little chat session with Congress.
But, hey. I'm sure it's fine. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said so.
