I'd posted about this in another thread back when the story first broke. I sat back and waited...for 3 weeks...to see if any of the mainstream media outlets would pick up this story. I figured they wouldn't, because it involves a sexual harassment claim against the "Prime Minster of Male Feminism" himself, and he is a media darling and golden boy of the far left.
And, for 3 weeks I was proven right, as the story appeared only in Buzzfeed News and in ultra-conservative rags like Breitbart and the Toronto Sun at the beginning of the month, and then mostly disappeared. Media orgs like the NYT had the story, as evidenced by them including one throwaway line about it in a larger story about Trump and Trudea at the G7, but the NYT never followed up on it and the MSM seem to collectively just ignore it.
Here's what I wrote in that thread at the time:
Check out the doublespeak he uses for "groping":
Yes, you read that right. Trudeau admits he only sexually assaulted her because he didn't think/know she was socially important and had any influence.
I don't really think this can be blamed on youth because he was a 28-year-old grown man at the time. Maybe he can use the "affluenza defense?"
Well, CBC finally reported on it today, so maybe it'll actually gain some steam?
To be clear, I'm not calling for or hoping for the downfall of Trudeau over this or anything else. I seriously doubt it would ever happen anyway. He's mostly a doofus, and sometimes a "useful idiot" of some in the far left, but at least he's a well-meaning one and he hasn't screwed the country up too badly and he is light years away better than someone like Trump.
But, I would at least like to see some logical consistency from the SJW parts of the mainstream media (apologies to everyone who just spit their drink on their screens in laughter from the idealistic absurdity of that statement) and all the little activist "blue checks" on Twitter when it comes to their full-napalm-style, "off with his head!" witch hunts. They turned on Al Franken for a picture he took before he was a politican. Seems only fair they should apply the same standards to Trudeau for drunkenly groping a reporter before he was a politician.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a self-described feminist who has made combatting sexual harassment and sexual assault a centerpiece of his political image, was accused of groping a young woman reporter at a music festival almost two decades ago.
According to the editorial, Trudeau was said to have apologized for inappropriately "handling" the woman after he realized she was a reporter.
“I’m sorry. If I had known you were reporting for a national paper, I never would have been so forward,” the Advance editorial quotes Trudeau as telling the reporter afterward.

Trudeau was 28 years old at the time of the alleged incident. Although he was not then a public figure, he was still famous as the son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau.
"Shouldn't the son of a former prime minister be aware of the rights and wrongs that go along with public socializing? Didn't he learn, through his vast experiences in public life, that groping a strange young woman isn't in the handbook of proper etiquette, regardless of who she is, what her business is or where they are?" the editorial said.

If the allegation is false (CBC News continues to investigate the claim) Trudeau doesn't really have the option, from a political perspective, to say so.
In the current climate, denying the claim is akin to saying, "She's lying," which is a taboo phrase for the leader of a government that has made believing women central to its approach to sexual misconduct allegations.
If the allegation is true, on the other hand, Trudeau can't simply explain, apologize and attempt to move on. It would look like he afforded himself leniency that he'd denied to members of his caucus who were accused of misconduct.
So the prime minister is stuck: he can't confirm or deny. As a result, his office opted for the most unsatisfactory of all possible responses, telling the National Post that Trudeau does not recall any "negative interactions" in Creston during that time. In other words, Canada's highest-profile women's rights advocate has been stricken by a convenient bout of amnesia.
