So, there's this story: www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/rudy-giuliani-fbi-warning-russia/2021/04/29/5db90f96-a84e-11eb-bca5-048b2759a489_story.html
The initial gist of it is that Giuliani was supposedly warned in 2019 that Russian agents were targeting him and others with "disinformation" as a means to damage Biden politically.
It turned out to be utter bullshit, but had already been picked up by some of the big boys and--of course--shared relentlessly on social media. Here's a CNN piece detailing the retraction by the NYT, NBC, and WaPo: www.cnn.com/2021/05/01/media/washington-post-new-york-times-retraction-giuliani/index.html
This was a pretty serious allegation to run with, that Giuliani and OAN were told by the FBI that they were getting used by foreign agents, yet both ignored the warning completely. How these turkeys in the media continue to go to print with one bullshit Russia story after another is beyond me.
Anyway, Greenwald used this--some might say predictably--as a basis to slam these media outlets some more (the current score is like Greenwald 42, MSM 3, and it's not even halftime): greenwald.substack.com/p/corporate-news-outlets-again-confirm
Tough not to simply allow that he's 100% correct in his assessment, because the pattern is clear and the MSM continues to hire "analysts" who are former operatives.
And Greenwald also dis this:
Here's a particularly scathing (by that I mean "pathetic") response to the above tweet:
Oooo, buuuuuuuuuurn...
Anyway, Glenn Kessler has actually responded now, probably because he's still getting hammered for the Tim Scott stuff and he doesn't need this, too:
I mean, it's still pathetic that Kessler--the supposed fact-checker at WaPo--ran with it at all, but okay he's at least mea culpa'd. The others? Can't say, apart from Geoff Bennett who is clearly content with being exposed as a lying pos.

The Washington Post, The New York Times, and NBC News on Saturday issued significant corrections, retracting earlier reporting that said Rudy Giuliani had been directly warned by the FBI that he was the target of a Russian disinformation campaign.
The stories came out after Giuliani's office and residence were raided by the FBI on Thursday. The searches were linked to a criminal probe of the former mayor's business dealings in Ukraine and resulted in the seizure of several communications devices.
"An earlier version of this story, published Thursday, incorrectly reported that One America News was warned by the FBI that it was the target of a Russian influence operation," read the correction by The Post, which first reported the news. "That version also said the FBI had provided a similar warning to Rudolph W. Giuliani, which he has since disputed."
"This version has been corrected to remove assertions that OAN and Giuliani received the warnings," the correction added.

This credibility carnage was so glaring that even CNN acknowledged that “the corrections are black eyes to the newsrooms which have aggressively reported on Giuliani's contacts with Ukrainians in his attempts to dig up dirt on then-presidential candidate Joe Biden.” But there have been so many similar "black eyes” like this one, indeed far worse ones, over the last five years, and they never change anything that causes these "black eyes” because they want to do this: spreading disinformation is their function. Indeed, as I have asked almost every time these debacles happen: how is it possible that these same outlets keep "confirming” one another's false stories?
And the answer is obvious: they all serve as mouthpieces for the same propagandists and disinformation agents of the CIA, FBI and other security state agencies. In this capacity, they dutifully write down and vouch for what they are told by those agencies to publish without any investigative scrutiny or confirmation. The most amazing part of it all is that when they try to malign independent journalists for not doing "real reporting” — real reporting like these corporate outlets do — this is what they mean by real reporting: getting a call from the CIA or FBI and being told what to say. And that is why they so often mislead and deceive the public with blatant disinformation in unison.
