So, tomorrow on the 8th, Britons go to the polls to elect a new parliament, three years early. There are a few notable things to mention.
A) The election is unwelcome and unnecesssry. It was called to exploit the weak state of the Labour party, and gift the ruling Conservatives a stonking majority.
B) When the election was called, the Conservatives had a poll lead of between 20-25%. Now the polls predict a dead heat. Some polls (YouGov) predict that the Conservatives will LOSE their current majority.
C) Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the Labour party was widely seen as completely unelectable. That was before Theresa May, the leader of the Conservative party, showed that she was even WORSE. Corbyn is still unelectable, if put against a normally competent politician. ANY normal politician. But "Maybot" may lose to Corbyn.
D) The Conservatives have run the worst campaign in campaigning history, making some speculate that they're actually trying to lose the election.
E) No important issues have been dealth with during this election. As one put it, there's a herd of stampeding elephants running toward Britain. The campaigns have looked up, and then ignored the stampede to focus on the more important issue of seating arrangements.
I don't know how things will go tomorrow. But right now, it looks like Britain only has one serious politician of any stature and competence, but she is in Scotland and has nothing much to do with this election.
