I thought it might be cool to have a thread about what people are doing in their free time - TV, movies, books, creative pursuits... Aaaaand I'm very curious I am just wrapping up the 5th season of HBO's The Wire - I finally started watching the whole series a few months back. I tried to start it a few years ago but didn't like it because of the drug use, which is in my past, and seeing it made me feel icky. But then enough time went by I guess, and now I've really enjoyed the series and the characters. (I would have loved to have some commentary on it from someone like robovowels, as he's done on other series in other forums.) I'm thinking next I'll re-watch the last season of Game of Thrones, in anticipation for the new season starting July 14th, I think it is. ZOMG *flails* Anyhoo, what is everyone else currently watching/reading/listening to/creating?

Watching. I just finished the Luke Cage series. I don't get a chance to watch stuff like that often because my wife can't stand it, and when we're watching TV together, I'm usually writing, but I just treated myself to a Roku, which allows me to watch netflix whenever I want. At night, when we're in bed, I usually rub her feet because she's had issues and they need it. She's asleep in like 5 seconds, and now I can watch what I want. I just started Daredevil season 2.
I haven't done much pleasure reading lately, but plan on getting back to it.
Writing. I've been working on galley edits to Torn Away, the book cover you see as my profile pic. I should be getting a release date from The Wild Rose Press soon. I've also been working on the sequel which I'll submit to my editor at TWRP. I just tonight in fact finished the first draft.
It was a very emotional MS to write. So much so, my kids have teased me because they'll see me with tears in my eyes as I write a scene. It's called Torn Apart. It's got murder, rape, child abuse, domestic violence, and of course romance.
I've also got to plan the third and final. Which means planning a wedding.
I just saw Wonder Woman, easily the best DC movie and one of the best superhero movies. Gal Gadot was amazing.
Home wise, my 2 are home from college for the summer. My oldest unofficial foster daughter (The older one) is on a cruise with her boyfriend and his family. My unofficial foster son and daughter are leaving Tuesday to go see their mother. I'm a little worried, but I think it'll be good for them. When they get back, we're planning Elly's first Bday party. Yotham will have football practice the rest of the summer. Hannah will be home by then. So from Tuesday to the 4th, it'll just be the original Morrone's. Which will be kinda nice.

That is all so cool, Vince.
"The Original Morrone's" is the best line of all. Cheers!
Congrats on finishing your sequel, and best wishes on the final. I bet you'll be needing some more Kleenex for that wedding scene <3
Re: Wonder Woman - that good, eh? So many people are saying that. Might have to forgo the "wait for the DVD" approach.

I recently finished reading The Arabists by Robert Kaplan. Very very good, bordering on great. It's a history of American Middle East specialists starting from the earliest protestant missionaries all the way through diplomats from the Foreign Service.
I also read a play called The Christians by Lucas Hnath, about a pastor who realizes he doesn't believe in hell and has to tell his church (and his family).
I also recently finished writing a play of my own, dealing with the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia and their aftermath.
And last music listened to: Jupiter from The Planets, Gustav Holst.

Since we're currently on the road, most of my "free" time has been used sightseeing or figuring out where we're headed next.
We're leaving Williams, AZ (Grand Canyon area) for Las Vegas tomorrow, then we have to figure out what to do instead of going to southern Utah, since all the parks there are currently smoke-filled. That's pushed a lot of people to Colorado, our second choice, so now it's starting to look depressingly like a long trek out to Washington/Oregon until our Yellowstone reservations in late August.
Anybody got any travel recommendations for us? Or some nice mountain RV parks in Colorado with reasonable rates and openings?

Anybody got any travel recommendations for us? I've only been to Colorado once, to visit a friend in Denver. But we went on a fairly memorable day trip out to Manitou Springs. Nice town w/ friendly people. The marijuana store felt almost like an Apple store. And I remember we had lunch at a place called Adam's Mountain Cafe. Great meal and great service, from what I recall. Have fun.
