I'm hoping there will be a huge rumble of dissent on this one.

That's been my great fear since Trump named Pence his running mate. I'm going to be donating to the ACLU and Americans United a lot over the coming years - they're going to need all the help they can get.

It's too easy to dismiss Trump's support as a rural, poor, uneducated white Christian problem. Sure they contributed, but our national attitude of "Not a problem for ME is not a problem at all" is a big part of what led to this. And a big part of our ongoing problems in general.

These are people who think personal responsibility matters, which has something to do with the "working-class" bit. So, they overshot and chose a man who never takes personal responsibility for anything, even when it's just being questioned about saying something an hour before? Donald Trump in the first debate, during a discussion about his refusal to release his tax returns - Hillary Clinton noted that he's "paid nothing in federal taxes" in recent years: Donald Trump immediately after the debate: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN1E5ok8WswPolitiFact has a whole list of times he denied saying things he definitely said. I'm not disagreeing that Hillary did a piss-poor job of reaching out to working class white voters - but if they think Trump is the candidate of personal responsibility, they're incorrect.

I'm glad I'm a copywriter. Hard for AI to take over my job. I'm still watching the bastard machines, though...

Was that a sportsball reference? That was a sportsball reference, wasn't it? Probably hockey or something. Go team that throws the ball into a net better than another team!

You know, I'll defend to the death Kaepernick's right to not stand for the National Anthem...but if you're not even going to bother to take part in selecting the new leaders of your country, then your little one-man protest loses all meaning.

Now, do I think Donald Trump's win has emboldened the racist minority in his base? Absolutely. And so has his campaign rhetoric. But categorizing every single person who voted for him as racist/misogynist/bigoted is oversimplifying a complicated issue.

Yep, I agree she should have given them at least a little attention. I actually agree with Mike Rowe on this one. Key quote:

I absolutely share your worries about preserving the separation of church and state, Don and Angie. To be clear, though I am an atheist, I would fight right down to the nubs of my nails for people's right to worship as they please. But it's imperative, in my opinion, that no one gets to force the rest of us to comply with their religious beliefs. (That all should go without saying, but...) 100% agreed. Also, I think a lot of people misunderstand the concept of separation, thinking it's only intended to protect the government from the church. When, in fact, it's ALSO meant to protect people's religious beliefs from government. Everyone seems to think it will be THEIR version of religion that will be in power, and don't consider the implications if another sect happens to grab control. I also agree with all of this (for someone I loathe and despise, you sure say a lot of things I agree with ). Having all three branches in lockstep is not a good thing. At all.
