Former team doctor for the US women's gymnastics team--one Larry Nassar, whom I mentioned in the Wienstein thread--is taking a serious metaphorical beating in court, as his victims take the stand and make impact statements, one after the other: www.cnn.com/2018/01/16/us/nassar-victim-impact-statements/index.htmlToday was Aly Raisman's turn. Watch highlights of it here: www.cnn.com/2018/01/19/us/larry-nassar-sentencing/index.htmlAnd Raisman also--and rightly--rips into USA Gymnastics and the USA Olympic Committee. Other victims have torn into Michigan State as well. All this raises a couple of questions for me: 1) Why hasn't this situation gotten a lot more press, as compared to other post-Weinstein stories (because many of these victims were children and the abuse was akin to what Sandusky was accused of, though orders of magnitude worse, imo)? 2) Does this or should this force a major restructuring of women's gymnastics in general, because let's face it, it's really girl's gymnastics and the nature of the sport in this regard creates pools of potential victims?

1) i feel like this has gotten equal if not more air time where i live.
2) yes. they have already fired the long time coaches. i think. maybe i dreamed that part but i'm pretty sure that's what i heard.
which is good for me personally because i've always found them to be creepy.

When I say "major restructuring," I mean changing the sport so actual women can compete effectively in it (like actual men compete in men's gymnastics), as opposed to 13-16 year old girls.
