As the nation mourns John McCain and the victims of the Jacksonville shooting, Trump (who still, unbelievably, hasn't tweeted about the Jacksonville shooting, and whose petty behavior at the death of McCain is discussed in another thread), had this to say this morning:
Note the ominous statement that this situation "will be addressed" -- meaning, it appears, that the Trump administration will take Google in hand and make sure that Breitbard, Infowars, and so forth get equal time with the New York Times and WaPo in Google search results. (I shall note that both the WSJ and Fox tend to be quite prominent in search results...)
Meanwhile, Google denies that its search results reflect any political bias.

I don't have a good place to put this, and I'm not sure I want to start another "Trump is utterly batshit and mendacious" thread (hmmm. maybe I'll just retitle this one, and use it for all future random batshit tweets...), so I'll dump it here. Trump is now accusing Lester Holt of "fudging" the NBC television interview in which Trump talked about firing Comey:
Okay. This is fucking nuts. Let's take aside how exactly Lester Holt could have "fudged" the interview. The fact is, that interview was months ago. It's been online ever since, and up until now, Trump seemed pretty proud of his performance in it. There were no accusations of "fudging."
I submit that what's happened is that Trump's legal advisers and the press have finally succeeded in drumming it into his thick head that Trump's statements in that interview were, far from being clever, actually damaging and can be used against him. So now he is trying to preemptively convince his followers that it was all fake and they should pay no attention to the man behind the curtains.
It's...crazy.

Actually, Trump's recent tweets, especially this last day or two, are really especially lunatic, even for him. It's impossible for me not to picture him alone in some over-the-top golden bedroom pacing in front of a wall of giant television screens all tuned to cable news and ranting like a maniac.
Here's a favorite thread:
Okay. To note, the president's tweets ARE deemed to be official statements. But IMO there's something completely lunatic about Trump tweeting (from his personal account) tweets headed with 'STATEMENT FROM THE WHITE HOUSE" (note that this statement has not emerged from the White House in any other form), and referring to himself in the third person.
What I see: A guy who is very, very afraid of the various investigations closing in on him. A guy who is very, very resentful and envious of the homage being paid to McCain. A guy who is desperate to shore up the notion that his meeting with Kim Jong Un was fruitful and not a humiliating mistake, in the face of contrary evidence. A guy who is paying no attention at all to any decent advice he might be getting.

So, um, conspiracy nut Alex Jones of Infowars fame claims that he's advising Trump -- his advice on alleged "internet censorship" is apparently what led to Trump's deranged "Google is RIGGED" tweet.
Yep. Everything's normal. Everything's fine.
