www.bloomberg.com/politics/graphics/2016-presidential-campaign-fundraising/Lots of charts, lots of numbers. Good stuff. The long and short of it: Clinton spent $969 million, SuperPacs supporting her spent $215 million. Trump spent $531 million, SuperPacs supporting him spent $86 million. Trump ending up shelling out $66 million of his own money. I find the SuperPac numbers fascinating, as that is where--supposedly--money was going to pour in and swing national elections. Didn't really work out that way, this time around.

Clinton just paid off her 2008 primary campaign debt a couple of years ago, didn't she? Sad.
Seriously, so much money. It boggles me.

Well, so much for Citizen's United spelling the end of democracy.
So almost two billion dollars blown on nothing productive in a battle over a job that pays what, $400,000 a year plus bennies? The system is seriously screwed up.

The system is seriously screwed up. The White House may be the brass ring (or the "One Ring" as you're so fond of calling it), but there are a lot of other elections that are arguably more important. It's not all about who makes it into the Oval Office.

I don't disagree, Amadan, but the election we're talking about is the one that just cost almost $2 billion to contest and earned the victor the paltry paycheck.
